Default Audio vs. Regular DVDs?

Hello all,
I've tried searching online for this, but can really only find results regarding video quality. Is the audio quality in general better on a Blu disc for a 5.1 system or is it equal to regular DVD? Also, I may be wrong, but I beleive it certainly has the potential to be better, but my question is are most movies coming out today made with better quality on Blu ray? Thanks a ton, appreciate it. Also, any advice on how to convince someone to get a PS3 as a blu ray player would be appreciated
-Ori

Blu-rays will all have the DTS or Dolby Track that standard DVD has. Our resident guru CrackinHedz put this up, it ought to be what you're looking for.

And yes you get MUCH better audio options, as long as your receiver can handle HDMI audio.
Linear PCM, Dolby TrueHD, DTSHD-MA.

std tracks are 448kbps or 640kbps. HD audio are up to 7Mbps... yea, its noticeable.

To a further extent, I have honestly noticed a slight Audio quality improvement on BD over some standard DVDs using the same track. The one that stood out most for me was 'Mission Impossible 3'. The same track strangely sounds better through my system via the Blu-ray playback than the DVD.

I don't get it, but there is clear distinction to me. Some will say that it is all in my head, but there seems to be more accuracy when it comes to objects moving into/out of/around the camera. The jet in the bridge scene is what first made me think about taking the time to compare and scrutinize the two formats sound.

VERY interesting... No lossy on that disc, so your saying you had better fidelity on the Dolby Digital Track on blu.... Do you know if it was a 448kbps or 640kbps track or other?
