The Fountain vs Pans Labrynth?

I saw both in the theater and loved them. Both are very near the top of my "all time list". I recently watched both on Blu and discovered so much in each that I missed during my first viewing that it only more concretely solidified my belief the both directors are extremely Passionate and yes, Genius!

Example: Pans begins with such warmth of colors, the forest, the sunshine, the dirts, the clothes etc. As the story moves and darkens, so does the color scheme. Its slow and subtle and very linear to the point you dont notice it, yet it degrades to an almost B&W film as the story "degrades" to its darkest points. Not wholly original, but masterfully executed.

For those of you who enjoyed either or both of these films, I would love to hear some feedback. Which one is more genius and why? I cant pick, they are both that good.
