Default NewEgg

I'm not sure if this fits into the newbie forum or the off-topic, but I just have a couple general questions about NewEgg since I've never shopped there before. First off, I'm interested because I noticed alot of their TV prices are way lower than Circuit City and Best Buy. My main questions are:

1. is it like Amazon in that there is no tax added to the order?

2. the free shipping they offer with AIT, is it good service?

3. do you feel like it's safe to have a big purchase like a TV delivered or are there too many problems with them breaking, etc.??

thanks in advance.

p.s. mods feel free to move if you feel this in the wrong forum

NewEgg is one of the best, if not the best, online retailers. I don't recall tax ever being added to my orders being from WI, and their shipping is always a day or two faster than it comes up.

If all companies were like newegg, consumers wouldn't have problems.

1) Yes, no sales tax. Remember you only get charged sales taxes when buying off the internet when the company has a physical store in your state. Thats why you get charged sales tax if you buy from bestbuy.com but not from Amazon.

2) I have used their free shipping before buying hard drives and it's good. Don't know what "AIT" means.

3) Never bought a TV from them before but judging from how well protected my hard drives were (tons bubble wrap and anti-static material) I am sure the TVs are too.

All I've ordered from newegg were PC parts.
Absolutely no issues, very good with shipping.

Newegg charges sales tax where they have locations, California, New Jersey, and Tennessee. While I haven't bought an hdtv from them, I spend anywhere from $10k-$15k each year on computer parts for work. You'll be hard pressed to find another website that has better customer service.

Newegg is where (up until my last PC that is) I buy all PC parts and equipment. They usually have the best prices, their service is great and I've never had problems.

As numerous others have stated Newegg is by far one of the best online retailers. Just look at the customer feedback section of any item you are interested in purchasing. I have purchased a number items from them video cards, computer cases, PSU's and everything arrived quickly and was well packed. They don't charge tax unless they ship from your state either.

Nice, just curious. I am looking to upgrade from my 720p 32 inch lcd to a bigger tv (46" or 50") and 1080p. I was interested in a panasonic plasma notably the TH-50PZ77U model and noticed NewEgg had it for 1899.99 while Circuit City is charging 2499.99 (HUGE DIFFERENCE). I am not in a position to buy right now, but maybe in 2-3 months I will be.

Yeah... I'd have no worries with them.... especially if you're buying a major brand.... 2-3 months from now, that t.v. will be a couple hundred cheaper probably...... gotta love technology.......

If cost is driving your decision, you may want to take a look at pricegrabber.com Just enter the model numbers of the TV's you are looking at. A select listing of retailers will come up but it should give you a good idea of what you should be paying. If you choose to buy from one of their affiliated retailers make sure you check the customer reviews though. Some of the stores may not be well known.

1. I am in CA and so I'm charged sales tax.
2. I've used the free shipping on qualifying products. It's usually UPS 3 day, but UPS gets it to my door in 1 day.
3. I personally wouldn't order a big tv online, but that's just me. If you have any concern over it, just read over the customer reviews for different TVs and see if there's any negative response on shipping. I doubt you'll find very many.

I've been ordering from Newegg for years and never had any problems. I've had to return 2 items that I can remember (not satisfied with the product), and I was able to exchange without hassle, of course I had to pay return shipping. However, check their return policy on the individual product you're looking to order because it can vary.

AIT is a company that specializes in air overnight freight deliveries. I know because I work at a muffin factory

I will add my voice the others and say that they are rock solid. I have bought stuff from there for almost 8 years now, and have had 0 problems. I even bought my HDTV from there.
