Default The Pioneer Elite BDP-05FD, Aquos HP20U Issues

Any update on when this machine will be available?

I need to scrape my very buggy Sharp Aquos BD-HP20U (HU8022000).

This machine always surprises me; not good surprises. Last night watching "No Country for Old Men", no sound. I thought it was the movie showing scenic views until start of opening action scene. I had to keep tweaking the machine menu to finally get the sound from the BD.

Good movie, bad ending with no closure, like the Cohen brothers ran out film. My opinion is the movie is not a best picture level movie.

Anyone else had any problems with the Sharp BD player?

Thanks

According the Pioneer insider at AVS, the official announcement of the 05FD will be in a few weeks. Could be released in May or June.

I have the Sharp BD-HP20A player and the only drawback is this.At the
moment it's connected via Multichannel 5.1 analoque to my 9 year old
Onkyo TX-676 which have an input for Multichannel 5.1.

The drawback is that when ever I watch 'Vacancy' the audio selection
under the HDMI selecton audio input of PCM Surround will revert back
to Auto whereby 5.1 analoque being disabled.Have to reset before it
will work. Watching other BD that is 5.1 Uncompressed PCM there's
no problem and the sound is just awesome !

The above slight drawback aside, with advent of BD technology coupled
with Dolby TruHD n Digital Plus the HT audio genre have improved tenfold.
Before this new sound decoding was introduced I always enjoyed the
current Dolby Digital codec and held it in awe when I watch DVDs.The
audio was fantastic with the 5.1 surround sound immersing my HT system.

But since embracing BD I found that I've entered a new realm of surround
sound. With Dolby TruHd codec I am now experiencing real surround nuance
of all the 5.1 HT setup and it's uncompressed audio. Wow !

Default not so "Sharp" Aquos...

hey, i also have suffered audio problems with that very same film with the same type of BD player. what worked for me was resetting the player by holding down the power button for about 2-4 seconds. after that i clicked on to settings and went to audio options and selected "auto - depending on HDMI connection". hope this was of some help, but that is all i can offer for now.
