Default Celebrated my B-Day today...

Man it was crazy. We were celebrating it at Redondo Beach. A group of black people started to beat the crap out of each other. My mom grabbed me and took me all the way to the end of the restaurant. Everybody started freaking out like it was cloverfield. It was a crazy night.

Happy early birthday!

I used to work on the 3rd floor of the Galleria in RB. Saw my share of 20 person fights there, usually on Friday and Saturday nights. I had to close the store early twice to because it always happens in front of our gate. I think it's because there isn't a real mall or multiplex theater in Hawthorne or Compton...so they're like "Hey let's go to Redondo, Torrance and Manhattan!" but I digress. Well, hope you had a fun pre-birthday dinner anyway.

Sadly enough when you live in California the odds of someone saying "a group people" is slim to none. Not that everyone here is racist its just, I dunno the way we say it around here, its all about race ?

Hmm.... do you have a problem with people of colour? How would you describe the situation?

Since there are no pictures in the thread, it's a little hard for someone to relate a story without using using adjectives to describe what they saw.

It's funny that Canadians and Europeans don't see the big deal about skin colour but for you Americans, its such a big deal. Get over it already and move on.

Here is a scenario:
Say that I was dating a girl and I wanted to describe her beauty to you guys. If she was caucasian, I might describe the colour of her eyes, her hair colour and the colour of her complexion. Not all "white" people are "white".

Now say if this girl had beautiful dark skin, beautiful brown eyes and beautiful full lips. You might jump to the conclusion that she is "afro-american (I hate that american centric word) but she could be an immigrant from Africa, an immigrant aboriginal from Australia, a Kiwi from New Zealand, an immigrant from India or someone from the Caribbean Island nations.

I don't see a problem. I'm a proud uncle of two Finnish/Jamaican Canadian girls btw.

I got a sense that you have some latent racism or discomfort with the idea of people that are of a different race than you are.

Default since this is turning into a race riot!

I was walking into a Gyro joint in the Bronx/Brooklyn (not sure where, was about 20 years ago!) with my Brother-in-law, and I was a young lad of 8 or 9, and the place was being robbed at gunpoint, and my bro-in-law just grabbed me by the shoulder as I walked in (I'll never forget the force he yanked me out with) and we hit the sidewalks, and walked at a decent pace without looking back!!!!!

I don't know what color the guy was, or if he was wearing a mask or anything..... it was the first time I saw a guy with a gun pointed at someone, that was part that stuck with me!

15 years later, and I was robbed at gunpoint 3 times...... same feeling as when I saw it happen to someone else when I was a kid...... Crazy world man!!!!

what? i understand what your saying, but what i was talking about was he didn't have to say black people. he could have just said people, the only reson why he said there race was because they were fighting
ok here's my scenario:
somebody has a car accident that you just saw, and your explaining it to your freinds. how would you describe the situation? a black/white guy crashed his car into a pole, or a group of black/ white people got hit buy a truck? how does that sound? you cant just say people, guy, man, woman. what your talking about is something different.

tends to be touchy subject seeing as how its only been a short time since some racially trying times in america (understatement), unfortunately we are a very divided segmented country (fear) regardless though.

but i also thought the same thing when i read the specific note of them being black, if they were white i doubt the OP would have specified anything more then PEOPLE FIGHTING. i wouldn't say thats racist in any way, but does show how small seeds still exist in peoples perspectives, i am guilty of the same thing and get called on it by my CAUCASIONALLY CHALLENGED buddys. to be fair though i wasn't really exposed to any other races when i was younger, which does not help.

edit: gotta love the "curb your entusiasms" where wanda sykes catches larry david locking his car doors as a black person walks by, or when he fixes "the black mans" tip lol. i think comedians are really the only ones that are bringing light to a subject that should be addressed with americans.

Thats what i was saying, the op could have just said people. but because they were FIGHTING he felt he had to let their race be known.
