Alvin and the Chipmunks Blu-ray Release

Fox Home Entertainment has announced that they will release the animated/live action film 'Alvin and the Chipmunks' on Blu-ray April 1st, day-and-date with the DVD release. The title will come on a BD-25 with AVC 1080p video and an English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack. Extras include the two featurettes "Chip-Chip-Hurray!" and "Hitting the Harmony", as well as a digital copy of the film.

Struggling songwriter Dave Seville (Jason Lee) opens his home to a talented trio of chipmunks named Alvin, Simon and Theodore, they quickly become overnight music sensations. But when a greedy record producer (David Cross) tries to exploit the musical ensemble, Dave must use a little human ingenuity—and a lot of 'munk mischief—to get his furry family back before it's too late!

The 9th domestic grossing movie of 2007 just sold 2.6 million copies in its first day of release on DVD and Blu-ray Disc.

There's another thread about that around here somewheres...I think it digressed into something about Juno so I didn't bother finding the link, but the consensus I believe was no, it doesn't.

I'm not sure I understand the excitement. I'd guess 99.5% of those first day sales were DVD. Not surprisingly, they don't offer up the breakdown of that 2.6 million. How many copies of the $30 BD do you think sold on day 1? 5K, 10K?

I'd say more than 5-10k but less than 100k. Likely in the 30-40k range on Blu-ray

Anybody have audio issues with this disk? It has issues with HD audio. switches to DD or just start out there and cannot switch it back....guidance?
