Default Amazon sells out again

For all of those people that keep saying that the PS3 is unpopular, why is it that every time any major retailer gets some online stock it is sold out by the next day?

11:40 GMT
PS3 60GB sales rank 2
PS3 20GB sales rank 9
Both sold out.

It still appears to be available in on best buy.com.

I really believe that there has to be some sort of Sony smear campaign going on.
When Sony didnt have enough consoles to meet demand but Nintendo did that equates to Sony being bad a great for Nintendo.

Now Sony bumped up their production and finally can meet demand while nintendo cant. This must mean Sony's console is unpopular and Nintendo is great. ummmmmm wtf.

Yes, there is a serious Sony smear campaign going on...its called fanboys. You see because Sony is on top, people are hating on them...there are two natural reactions to that...to back them (for those who like to back a winner) or to reject them (for those who prefer to back an underdog).

Before this generation, this exact kind of thing used to happen all the time...see SNES vs Genesis....PS1 vs N64....PS2 vs Xbox vs GC. However this generation has 1 vital difference...for some reason these days, the internet rumor mill has a freakin huge impact on what (and how) the media reports these days. Thats why the media has seemed to turn against the Playstation brand...because according to the internet, popular opinion is against them, but what the clueless media doesn't realise is that its just a bunch of loudmouthed (loudtyping?) fanboys spouting worthless rhetoric.

Its sad, but what can ya do....

I think this holds alot of truth and it is human nature. I like to back the underdog, but not when it comes to spending money on electronics, then I just like to buy what I like best. Makes since to me.

They are readily available at Best Buy. They had a ton of them when I picked up mine this past monday. Everyone I know says whenever they are in Best Buy they always have them in.

Because whenever anyone goes to Best buy, and expresses an interest in learning about PS3 and comparisons to other gaming systems, the helpful sales associates "steer" them towards Xbox....

Or maybe I am just a conspiracy theorist

you're just a conspiracy theorist

only reason im not picking a ps3 up yet is because i don't have an hdmi receiver (that and the house i just bought). once i have the receiver, then i'll consider a ps3. the ps3 is amazing, and i'd love to have one. im just trying to play it straight and rationalize it to myself for the short term.

Best Buy also gets some of the more regular shipments from Sony, something that pisses Gamestop off to no end. Especially since Gamestop likes to see themselves as teh point of sale for 50%+ of the market... But well, that's not so much the case anymore.

Best Buy is one of the retailer who got burned heavily by UMD. Further consider : you have someone willing to spend 600$. If you sell the PS3, you have small margin. If you sell the 360 + Accessories + Games, you have a nice margin.

im ticked at the NBC/Universal MSNBC connection that seems to spread lies and keep blu ray users from seeing universal studio movies as of now.

It is more likely that Toshiba paid Universal lots of money to use their new type of filming process on KK, Toshiba in-turn were given a contract to build the Zune by MS. A direct link between MS and Universal would be too obvious. MSNBC is only loosely related to MS now, after a recent acquisition made by NBC.
