Hey, love the site. It's one of the first places I check each day for Deals and BD news. That said, the Hot Deals forum is beginning to get pretty clogged. "Where's my 5 free", "AVP preorder back up to $48", "Where to find Shooter" and things of this nature that are at best on the fringe of being deal-related.
I'm not asking for them to be deleted, but could some threads of that nature (and especially duplicate threads) be maybe moved to the General forum or locked? It seems of late that the Moderators have taken a bit of a light hand at least in that forum. If you're busy, or things are going on, I can understand. If you need more help, I'm sure there's lots of folks who would be happy to moderate one or two forums for you (I myself would volunteer). Just want to toss that out there as I don't want to see the Hot Deals (and, by extension other sections) become less useful to members and guests because they must wade through a lot of other stuff. Thanks for your time. |

There are alot of pointless threads there, yes, but maybe you arent looking for that particular item, five people are. If you have a complaint, pm a mod/admin and they will fix the issue if its wrong. The Shooter hard to find thread isnt needed, IT has NO substance other than for the OP as its not a hot deal. The Administrator created a share your hot deals thread here but no one uses it.
The only real way to fix this is to start offering infractions/warnings if people dont follow the rules. Do that enough times and I guarantee it will stop, but it also creates a negative atmosphere here as a result. and rule #2 is never followed Here are the Rules: Quote:
Now if all of us thought about that before posting, it wont be a problem |

I'm not looking for a mod job. I have moderated forums in the past, but mostly I didn't want to say "fix this" without offering my own services. I still would if asked however.
As for jwbbud's comments- I don't disagree, but an "on it" mod team should be able to keep up with threads like that in the wrong places. I'm not personally looking to get any members in trouble by "reporting" them, I'm just wanting a more-organized forum to play in. ![]() |

Well, I went ahead and reported a few that I felt were not hot deals, with comments like "not hot deal- move to general?" so we'll see what happens.

Sometimes it just feels like they have to be the first to post something without putting too much thought into it. You have to also realize that there isn't many "hot deals" as there used to be. I can understand limiting the threads about ebay and half.com even though majority of the good deals are found there so I think its just people getting restless. Same can be said about the Blu-ray Movies and Releases Forum and the General Forum. There isn't really much to talk about other than speculation/wishlist and who is buying what. I think what the mods are doing so far is fine and letting this be for now until it becomes the wild west. You don't want to deter people from this site. Remember what happened with the coupon threads?
Best thing to do is just ride it out until things settles. I personally just ignore a couple users because I feel they really don't offer anything other than to gloat or post *****. I can deal with humor but there are some that are just complete morons. |

well the coupon thread was promoting illegal activity and this site condones that. There are forums that post this stuff and thats where alot of the sales ads, etc are coming from. I think that should be left over there as it benefits only a few buyers not all.
Hot Deals: Amazon sales, B1G1 Brick and Mortar stores sales a valid coupon code all users can use at checkout like the Amazon Visa $5.00 off code NOT Hot Deals: open 15 google accounts to save 10.00 on each movie Half/ebay users sale on a title that he only has one copy of telling your story of how you scammed a retailer to get money of your next purchase These are common examples, but some information that isnt a hot deal is useful like xxxxx has shooter in stock or Retailer X is offering this promo but you have to do this(i.e, sign up for sony card, get 100.00) Just my 2 cents ![]() |

I agree, but to an extent. I post deals for video games, whether it be WII or PS3, but I always get positive comments for the most part, every now and then some fool comes in and complains about it not being a blu ray deal. People need to lighten up.. as long as its a deal then it should stay. But the "LOOK I GOT FREE STUFF CUZ I USED GCO TEN TIMES" needs to go. |

I have no problem with hot deals that are not blu-ray related. I do think that there should be some consideration though when posting a deal especially if you are just cut and pasting from another website of what it actually is.

I counted at least 13 threads on the first page of the hot deals forum that dont belong.. at all. "MY AVP WENT BACK TO 48.95". how is that a hot deal? "SHOOTER HARD TO FIND OFFICAL THREAD" ..? Its threads like these that pollute the hot deals section, no offense to the creators or anything. |

fully agree, the hot deals thread was far more useful when i started coming here late in nov. 07. and not because of recent sales, but because it was far easier to locate threads and deals that interest me. now more often then not when i do check there and click on a thread it generally is a "i got this for blank amount" or something not useful to other members/browsers.
there is far to much clutter and stuff that doesn't belong imo, and it does make it tougher to locate the threads that actually have some great contributions to make. |

The thread "What BD showed up in your Amazon.com Gold box today?" does nothing but help boost one's post count. It doesn't belong for two reasons:
1) Your Quick Pick deals do not in any way/shape/form help out other members 2) Quick Picks can be manipulated to get ANY BD you want to appear by simply altering your preferences. |
