Default Where to Repair PSP???

Hey, I found a PSP on the side of the road (seriously, I would not lie) and would like to get it to work. There is very minimal damage to the outside (few scratches b/c it was in some sort of a skin). The thing does not even turn on. It is from what I can tell a new slim psp. Model 98510. Where can I get this repaired? It seems a shame to have a psp and not pay to get it repaired. HELP?!?!

I would call up Sony to see what it would cost for repairs. Since you found the PSP it may still be cheaper to have Sony fix it rather then try to fix it yourself.

I dont think it's the battery, I tried to charge it using my ps3 (didnt work) and then found an old portable dvd charger to try to charge it and it didnt work. I'll try giving sony a call... We'll see

you can't charge it with the usb unless its on and set to usb in the menu, I would take it over to someone elses house who has an actual psp wall charger, just because the dvd charger fits doesn't mean it will charge it.

Really? I've had the same USB wall charger for like 5 years. I've used it for my PSP, MP3 player, cell phone (2 of them), and my Bluetooth headset. I don't even remember what it was for in the first place. I never figured there would be any kind of difference if the plug fits...

If it was bricked, and you know someone with homebrew they can usually unbrick it for free

Default Update:

ok, so I took your advice and took it to gamestop to use their charger. It does work just fine, just needed a charge. WHat does not work is the disk reading. It does the never ending loading sign. What now???

I'm a PSP Repair Expert. Here's my advice.

Take a pencil, open up the UMD tray but no disc inside. Slide the laser edge toward to the center. Close the UMD tray and see if its load.

Edit: But DON'T touch the len.

Repair it yourself. I had NO experience doing something like this, but I was able to find plenty of information online about taking a PSP apart. My UMD drive died on my first-gen PSP and I was able to order a replacement drive on Ebay on the cheap and replace it myself...and that part required entire dis-assembly.

If it is the LCD, that is even easier to replace.
