Default Panasonic TH50PZ77U....

Hey guys, i got a Panasonic TH50PZ77U on the way! After some serious researching online trying to decided between a plasma and an LCD, i decided a plasma was my best bet for PQ. So i've read that Panasoninc recomends a 100 hour break-in period.

My question is, what source should i use to break in the tv? Blu-ray movies or a break-in dvd that's available for download online? Not sure if my Directv HD will be installed by the time i get my tv. Also should i go ahead and change the picture settings as soon as i hookup the tv or wait until after break-in? What do you guys think? Thanks for any info!

if you have HD cable/satelite you can turn on HD Theater...that doesn't have anything that would burn into the screen...I would do that rather then buying a DVD or anything to break it in...Enjoy your new tv!!!

I have the 58" plasma. I got it in december. I was so paranod about burn in. I would not allow any gaming, i would not pause it, I lived in fear. But now i am starting to feel that burn in is not that easy to achieve and i feel that it is not something to be that worried about. You will see many post about the subject on many forums.

Thanks for the link Crackinhedz, i actually came across that a few days ago. Thanks for the info guys. I'm really not too worried about the burn in. Especially these newer plasmas, just a little common sense and it shouldn't be a problem.

Hopefully i'll have my Directv HD installed by then..if not the PS3 with blu-ray movies will have to do at first, as long as the image takes up the whole screen with no bars...

burn in is not easy but if you go to frys and check out all the plamas there then your fear might come right back.... every set has burn in. i have been there and shopped a few hours and they will leave a static image because of a paused dvd up the entire time

How long do you think they left the static image on the tv to cause the burnin? Do you think the burn in is permanent or will fade away? I am still somewhat paranoid. I set my tv to shut off automatically after 2 hours when there is no action just in case it get left on by accident.

im sure they leave them up for hours and hours, they leave dvd menus up after the movie stops becuase you can see the menu even when a movie is playing. im sure you have nothing to worry about but watch out for the standard def channel tv bugs that are solid color. i also suggest you not play to many sport title games that have a score bar because it will cause burn in after long play.
