sharp bd-hp20 problems?

I just purchased a Sharpy BD-HP20U player and get an error message "Disc not inserted" when either a BluRay or DVD is inserted. The guy at the store suggested a firmware upgrade which was done, and still the same meassage. Anyone with a suggestion??

contact Sharp. i had a similar issue with mine. Sharp just exchanged the unit for me. 1year warrenty from Sharp

Hi everyone,
Hope someone can help me with this one. I bought a BD-HP20H Sharp Blue Ray at Makro on the 1st March. It plays the Blue Ray DVD's but the normal ones just freezes up. (These DVD's plays on my other DVD palyer so no problem with DVD itself) Sharp doesn't want to help out because they insists that I have to take it back to Makro when Makro buys them cheap from Sharp and therefore bought out the warranty. Makro on the other hand insists that they only have a 28 days warranty and then Sharp takes over with the warranty up to a year. I'm cought in the middle and it's not going anywhere with this one. I have managed to get the upgrade CD but it doesn't help. Anyone else with the same problem and knows how to fix this one?

Hi Anni
First thing which country are you from? Behind the player there's an
indication of regions. Like meself I am from Singapore and my BD-HP20A
indicate the player can only play region A and all regions ABC.As for DVDs
only code 3 which sucks coz most of my DVDs are code 1.

Thanks for your reply. I'm in region 2 (England) and my DVD says 2 on them so no problems there.
