Default War Classics

Depending on the reviews on picture quality, I am planning on buying The Longest Day, A Bridge Too Far, and The Battle of Britain. So far I have seen one Blu-ray review of A Bridge Too Far for the version released in Japan and the PQ was deemed very good. I have all three in their SD DVD versions and hope that the Blu-ray versions are an improvement. I find the SD PQ of The Longest Day to be soft and for a Bridge Too Far the picture is unstable in certain scenes. Hopefully, there will be some reviews on all three at this site.

Highly recommend adding Patton to that list. Another classic worth having in any collection.

If the reviews are good, I will get all of those. I hope Platoon gets a release sooner than later.

Same here. I love my classic war films - although the $28 a pop for these Fox titles makes me a little hesitant, I will have all of them in due time.

I feel you. The claustrophic effect would be fantastic on a Blu-ray.

"A bridge too far" and "Battle of Britain" already pre-ordered. "Patton" and "The longest day" are also definite buys.

It's coming. It probably needs quite a bit of work though

It's identical to the Japanese release.

Same here. That's the one war title that I'm looking forward to the most.

I'd throw in Paths of Glory. Not a classic really but I would love to see Dogs of War get the BD treatment as well.

I'm with you exactly! Along with Bridge on River Kwai as well of course!
