it just doesn't show on your receiver because the ps3 decodes it

Thanks For Your Replays My Friends.
But The Sound Is Different .the Dts-hd And The True -hd Is More Powerful On The Blue Ray Player Than The Ps3 .
Second Thing There Is True -hd Logo On The Ps3 Box So Why It Is Dont Show On The Reciever Screen.
And Why Did Sony Make The 2.3 Update If The Sound Is Going To Decod In To Pcm.
Thanks

arsenal,

The PS3 decodes Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA signals internally and then sends the signal as PCM to your receiver. Since the receiver is just receiving a PCM signal, and not decoding Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD MA itself, it will only light up the PCM indicator on your receiver. If you have a separate Blu-ray player that is bitstreaming the signal to your receiver for decoding, the appropriate Dolby or DTS indicator will ligth up on your receiver.

Your PS3 is working properly, and your receiver is getting the proper signal. When using the PS3, having PCM light up is correct. The difference in sound you're hearing might be due to overall output level variances between having your receiver decode the signal vs the levels associated with its HDMI input.

agreed.

also, your Receiver could have been using different DSP's for the audio from his Bluray player vs. your PS3

...I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I have seen two or three movies in DTS-MA since the PS3 supports it (let's say 'decodes' it) and I'm pretty amazed, even though the PCM coversion, this is the best sound quality I have heard from a movie...

However I'm pretty sure that my receiver would make a much better work deconding those signals... I guess I will have to wait until I can buy a DENON BD fully bitstream capable player ...

You're fine. The PS3 decodes to PCM, it doesn't bitstream.

It shouldn't matter unless your reciever does something weird to PCM signals that it doesn't do to regular bitstreamed Dolby or DTS. Like it's been mentioned before, one might be louder than the other, but louder isn't better, it's just louder. If the PS3 decodes it compared to the reciever, they'll be bit for bit identical.

TrueHD and DTS HD MA to PCM isn't really a 'Convertion' it's more a 'Uncompression' of a loseless signal to PCM.
