Problem with not receiving a signal - Blu-ray Forum

Hey guys I have a problem and I was wondering if any of you could help. A few weeks ago I updated my firmware on my LG Super Blu DVD player. It's a series BH 200. When I updated my firmware, I was able to play regular DVDs, but I would lose the video and audio signal when playing Blu-Rays and HD DVDs. I had to convert back to the previous firmware updates to watch the Blu-Rays and HD DVDs.

Is this perhaps because of my HDMI cable? I have a monster HDMI cable, but should I perhaps change it out or upgrade to a different HDMI cable? Thanks guys.

Might just be a bad patch. Have you called tech support yet? If it happened after the patch, it is probably the patches fault.

I'm not sure what you mean by the patch. Do you mean the slot where the HDMI cable connects?

I did contact LG to see if they could help. They said they're sorry for the inconvenience and they'll look into the problem. Any other suggestions?

He's talking about the firmware upgrade - that was bad.

By bad, you mean that I didn't know what the "patch" was? I'm getting used to the techno jargon. I'm a tech junkie, but after visiting this site, I consider myself a techno enthusiast, not a junkie.

So you think it's the firmware update? The new update was for the 7.1 DTS and Dolby Digital surround sound. I would get a picture and sound signal for a milisecond, not even a second, then the signal would be lost.

So what do you think?

The LG player is hooked up to a Samsung 46 inch. I don't know if that makes a difference or not.
