Default NBA Playoffs 2008 Discussion

So who watched the first two Boston-Cleveland games? Crazy stuff. The first game was a mess for both teams, Boston squeaked out a narrow win. Game two tonight was all Cleveland in the first quarter, they were up by 12, but that didn't last. Celts cruised to a twenty-ish point lead and held it. Somehow they shut down Lebron to a career low 2-for-18 in game one and in game two he was kept pretty quiet, too - and did I mention the combined 17 turnovers he committed? Ouch. I'll be amazed if they can keep King James scoring low one more time, and in Cleveland. The Celts defense has been the dominating factor in these first two wins IMO. Go Celtics!

The Cavs simply let game 1 got away from them, and now they are down 0-2... then again, the Celtics looked extremely shaky on the road against the Hawks, I expect the Cavs would be tying it 2-2 by game 5 in Boston.

Yeah, don't under-estimate the Magic either. They were right there in game 2! Now that Billups is hurt, don't be surprised if the Magic eventually winning this series.

Out west... Lakers vs. Hornets in the WCF would be a pretty damn competitive series.

@ crackinhedz

I used to be a HUGE Magic fan too back in the day! I still care about them now, it is just that I don't consider I am as big a fan of theirs as before. Good luck the rest of the series.

Yes sir I was! I've been to all the games so far this season (playoffs), unfortunately I am not going to make Game E since I will be out of town. So I gave the tix to my mother (it is mothers day right? ).

I have not heard the O-rena (I will never call it anything else ) this loud since the 1994-1995 Chicago series where Nick Anderson stole the ball from Jordan (game 1), and game 1 of the NBA Finals agaist Houston.

Oh, I bet.

And believe it or not, I actually have game 1 of the 1995 Finals on dvd. Man, talk about giving the game away... I was a HUGE Magic fan at that time, and I could just felt that loss pretty much sucked all the life out of the team.

Yeah game one was a huge loss for us and really knocked our guys down and they never recovered. It kinda sucks this year (with the Detroit series) that if the Magic go a head and win the series, everyone will just point to the fact that Billups was injured. The Magic have never gotten any respect in the NBA, and they probably won't until they beat a team at full strength. Assuming the Magic go on to the Eastern Conference Finals against Boston (I don't think Cleveland has a chance), I think they will only get some respect if they beat the Celtics. Here is to hoping.

True, I agreed for the most part. That said, injury is part of the game, you just have to take this opportunity and capitalize it. Then again, the Magic were right there near the end of game 2; and they are actually very capable of beating the Pistons even at full strength. Those who think the Magic ain't that good don't know anything about the NBA.

As for the Team LeBron vs. Celtics series, not so fast, my friend. Remember the Hawks looked dead after game 2 too. Let's face it, the Celtics just look shaky on the road thus far, and I am not at all surprised that series would be tied at 2-2 by game 5.

We will have to see after game 3. If Boston beats Cleveland in game 3 in Cleveland, I don't think Cleveland will be able to re-coup. Personally I have never been a Cleveland fan (or Boston for that matter), but I would rather play Boston in the Eastern Finals (assuming the Magic make it there of course).

The team to watch is N.O. they have a great young team and Chris Paul is fricking unbelieveable. I think the Western conference champion game between L.A. and N.O will be a good one.

Luckilly the Magic, again assuming they make it that far, match up well with each team. We were 1-1 against each this year, and won in L.A. and in N.O.

Kobe Bryant is an man on a mission this year, he is playing as good as anyone and has been consistant this entire season.

I fully expect the Celtics to fold in game 3, but whether Team LeBron can bounce back and win like last year against the Pistons is anybody's guess. I personally wouldn't bet against the King, though. I like KG, but I can't really stand the Celtics. If they ever reach the Finals, I wish they would pull a Patriots 66-16, doesn't mean a thing without a ring!

Over in the west, with the Spurs winning tonight, I think that series is still too early to call, man. Meanwhile, the Jazz might win a game or two back in SLC, but I really don't think they can come back from 0-2. Yeah, Kobe deserves the MVP and All-NBA First Team this year, there is no doubt about that!

Speaking of the Lakers, I am actually a Lakers fan these days; but don't flame me just yet. As an old Magic fan, I actually HATED the Lakers for literally stealing Shaq in 1996. I mean, let's face it, we all knew Shaq wanted to head over to LA long before 1996, but it was Jerry West who went behind the Magic and signed Shaq. Yeah, for a few years I actually lost some respect for West over that. For me, I think it wasn't until the 2001 I started liking what they do in LA, and I've always been a fan of Jackson's coaching anyway.

On the other hand, the Magic management have made quite a few dumb moves since Shaq too... how about doing a sign-and-trade for Grant Hill while giving up Ben Wallace? Trading Mike Miller away when he was the perfect wingman for T-Mac? Or how about trading T-Mac for Steve Francis? Oh oh, and why would you pay an extra $50M to sign Lewis when no one in the market nor the Sonics really wanted to match that in the first place...

Someone told me Boston only lost 8 games at home all year??? is that true? Oh well. I hoped the Cavs did well last year, the more playoff games in the city, the more $$$$, and maybe we could build something nicer than that Rock-n-roll HOF !!!

By the way, (off topic) who's playing in the H.O.F. game in Canton this year???? Better not be Shitsburgh again.... I actually wanna go this year!!!!

It's a small world, I used to live in SW Orange county (over by Bay Hill) on Apopka Vineland and Conroy Windermere, until I graduated from UCF in 1997.

Good ole Catledge. Those were the days...Skiles, Ansley, Anderson, Wiley, Corzine, Acres, and who can forget Theus and Otis Smith (for mayor!). Times were much simpler back then...

The sad part is I can tell you almost every player who played for the Magic and their respective jersey number. Man I am sure that will come in usefull some day huh?

Your dad didn't happen to work for Jewett Orthopedic did he? A friend of my family was also a Magic orthopedic doctor, Dr. White.

The Indianapolis Colts and Washington Redskins will kick off the 2008 preseason schedule in the annual NFL/Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio, on Sunday, August 3, 2008.
