I posted this over at AVS but didn't get any replies. I was hoping someone here might be able to help me out. I recently got an onkyo 605 and I have noticed when I try and to play certain games or BD's the signal will drop completely. For example audio/video will be working fine in the dashboard but as soon as I pop in POTC BD my tv (Olevia 232V) goes black and "no signal" appears on the screen. Occasionally will see pcm flash on the receiver and I will get a few seconds of audio but no video before it drops again. The same thing happens with GT:5 Prologue, and Pan's Labyrinth but all other BDs work fine. I have hdmi running from ps3 to the 605 and then hdmi to the tv. The cables appear to be connected tightly and my ps3 is set to output in pcm. My ps3 has the latest firmware as well. I am now on my second 605 and am encountering the same issues.

Check what Crackinhedz is talking about.... BUT
Do you just mean the drop out occurs initially? Like right after putting in a disc? if so, that's normal. Your tv is checking and altering resolutions. When you pop in a disc, first thing the PS3 does is run a resolution check to know if its BD or not. Then as you go through the initial screens, it'll drop out as the tv switches from 1080i to 1080p. FBI warnings and Stockholm threats aren't in 1080p all the time. If the drop out lasts awhile, then its a problem, if its only a few seconds, its normal. |

I am connected via hdmi. Both cables work fine from ps3 straight to the tv. The dropouts occur right after the ps3 switches to the video tab and zooms in on the bd disc. The picture usually wont come back at all after that. I will only get a few snippets of audio here or there from the movies menu.

I am having the same issue. I was using a monoprice HDMI 1.3 from my PS3 to Onkyo 605 and I would occasionally loose the audio and picture during movies. I switched the monoprice cable to Onkyo 605 directly to the TV and the picture continued to drop out, but not the audio. The cable does seem really loose fitting and the signal comes back when I gently wiggle the connector. I am scrapping the Monoprice cable and replacing with a Blue Jeans one I got in the mail today. Hopefully this fixes the issue.
