I have been typing questions in single posts but have decided to bunch them together in hopes that a well educated home theatre individual can help me, or a multitude of them. So here they are and i greatly appreciate anyones help that gets involved!!!
Setup: Sony KDL 52W3000 HDMI connected. Sony 40G PS3 HDMI connected. Samsung HTX 72 HTIB (i know i know). HDMI connected. Scientific Atlantic HD-DVR HDMI connected. 1. I am noticing when i move far left and right of the TV it seems to get washed out and dull looking. Then when dead center picture looks rich and dark.. I thought this odd because my previous Sony KDL 46v2500 did not do this at all. Any ideas why? 2. I set my power saving to "low" like suggested in a calibration for this tv and noticed the overall picture is darker and blacks are richer. But i had this thought, everytime a movie ends and it goes total black screen except the white text credits the picture darkens significantly. Now is this due to power saving adjusting the black levels? i can imagine it manually adjusting during a movie that has a dark scene making the picture altered since it does during credit rolling as well. Plenty of movie scenes get that dark, this seems like a bad thing or abnormal at the least. 3. I was wondering exactly what the "color space" setting does? My eye notices that it enhances reds and darkens and "spreads" the background areas of the picture when on "wide" instead of standard. 4. Apparently my tv is now 1080/24p as opposed to my previous 1080/p. What exactly does this mean? Is it also true that if i went to the most current hdmi cable (version 1.3 or something) that i get a cleaner signal? Or is this whole hdmi cables vary just a myth? 5. I seem to not be able to get rid of "everyone has a sunburn" on my picture. i have adjusted reds, hue, etc and i either wind up turning everyone green or making the picture too pale. Any ideas? 6. Is there any way to convince my wife that its necessary that we have to buy at least 5 blu rays a week? Thank you for all your help, it is immensely appreciated and i look forward to some real guidance!!! Last edited by backtothecanvas; 05-14-2008 at 01:02 AM. |
