Default American History X

I just watched this and all I can say is WOW! AMAZING film! I don't think I've been as wowed by a movie lie I was with this one ever. Edward Norton was amazing as always! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I hope it comes out on Blu soon!

P.S. I'm sorry if there was a thread for this movie already. I looked but I never get good results from the search engine.

ROBERTO BENIGNI for Life is Beautiful won. Tom Hanks in "Saving Private Ryan", Ian McKellen in "Gods and Monsters", Nick Nolte in "Affliction", Edward Norton in "American History X" were nominated.

Benigni in Life is Beautiful was great. Overall it was a stacked catagory. I would have leaned Ed Norton as well. I don't think I saw Affliction.

McKellen and Hanks were also deserving. Tough year.

Default Why didn't Ed Norton Jr win an Oscar for American History X?

Best movie of 1998, in large part because of the best performance of this actor's career to date. The fact that he didn't win is just another mark against the Academy's record if you ask me.

It's a good performance but not great. he's much better in 25th Hour with his monologue.

He's also better in Fight Club.

I agree with Fight Club but I think American History X is a very close second!

Who did he lose to that year?? It was a great performance and he put on some serious weight and muscle. Just 2 years earlier he was real skinny in Primal Fear

Roberto Benigni won in '99 for Life is Beautiful. He did a good job. This is hardly the snub of the century. Lest we forget Whoopi Goldberg, Gwyneth Paltrow, Tim Robbins, Anna Paquin, Marisa Tomei, Geena Davis and Mira Sorvino all have Oscars.
