Try setting the HDMI AUDIO OUT setting to OFF. My PS3 will not pass audio through my 705 to my TV. I'm not sure why, and I've not bothered to figure it out because I play everything through my 705. With the setting ON, I also don't get audio.

when you have HDMI Audio Out set to "On", this sends the audio to the TV and does not play through the receiver...

It was set to off. I managed to get it to work somehow. Not exactly sure how though.

I had the same problem when I hooked up my PS3 to my 605 a few weeks ago. As it turns out I forgot to switch my audio out on my PS3 from Optical to HDMI.

When I have my 705 HDMI AUDIO OUT set to ON, my cable box audio will pass through to the TV. If I raise the volume on my 705, it will also play through my HT speakers. This is NOT the case with the PS3. I get no sound out to the TV speakers with it set to on, but if I raise the volume on the 705, I do get sound through my HT speakers. I understand that with the setting ON, the 705 will only be able to output 2-channel stereo, as this is the best that can be output from the TV (an HDMI thing). You will always get sound from your 705, regardless of the setting, but it will only be multi-channel if the setting is OFF. My understanding, anyway, and I just got done confirming it.

Any idea why I get no sound from the PS3 passed through to the TV? I don't need it, but I'm just curious.

...I should have said...

when set to "On", its not intended to play through the Receiver.

you are correct, for multichannel through the receiver it should be "off"

My TV has the same issue, and in the owner's manual it said the TV might not be able to handle HDMI input from a receiver for some reason. So I just use my speakers from the receiver. I haven't played around with it too much to find a solution though.

Does it not play through the TV speakers with only the PS3, or with all of your HDMI inputs (when you have HDMI AUDIO OUT set to ON)? Mine won't play sound on PS3 only. I'm thinking it might have something to do with the PS3 audio out settings. Someday, when I have time, I'll play around with it. Oh, my set is a 58" Panny plasma, but I haven't read that it might have problems with HDMI pass-through audio.

Did you assign the HDMI port? You need to assign it to a specific thing (Game, DVD, etc) or elese it wont work.

You manual will tell you how to do that, Also, if you did do that, then check the PS3s settings in the xmb.

Sound settings -> Audio Output seetings -> HDMI -> Automatic.

Good luck. Just so you know - when you get your 605 set up, its the greatest thing ever.
