I have it and I can highly recommend it! Outstanding movie, a true masterpiece! Ang Lee at his best.

Most importantly: This release, besides offering excellent PQ and AQ*, features the Director's Cut which at 158 minutes is 10 minutes longer than the theatrical version. These additional 10 minutes contain some spicy footage you sure don't want to miss!

* It is PCM 7.1, dts HD MA 7.1 and DD 5.1

Unfortunately we did not get a copy for review Konrad. I will nevertheless try to obtain one Thank you for clarifying the audio specs as well, the ones I posted above were the preliminary specs the vendor had posted.

Hello Pro-B, thanks for all the great work you are doing here! I saw Lust, Caution in the theater last fall in Vienna and I liked it so much that I immediately thought hopefully this will be released soon on blu.

I was happy when I read the pre-release announcement but was doubtful about the quality as I had no previous experience with Korean BDs. My worries were totally unfounded, the disc did deliver in all respects and I was surprised to see some scenes I hadn't seen in the theater! The disc has some very interesting and insightful extras and all with English subs. There will be a Japanese release 26 September 2008, but according to hmv.co.jp with Japanese subs only so not useable for people who do not understand either Chinese or Japanese.

And if people are scared of importing themselves, Amazon USA are importing a batch and you can buy it direct from them.

I have used Yes Asia for a lot of my purchases and they are very fast and highly reliable. I have never had anything wrong shipped by them, and they answer personal inquiries right away.

Hate to be anal but the audio is not in Chinese... the Audio is in Mandarin.

There is a difference between Mandarin and Cantonese.

Now for subs, you can just say Chinese and that would be fine, although more details as if it was Simplified or Traditional would be nice since both are slightly different.

I don't think that you are being anal. The specs we posted at the top were provided way in advance by a retailer and I think that the reason they added "Chinese" is because they were unsure whether or not it the audio would be Cantonese or Mandarin. I assure you I know very well the difference between the two as I know how to distinguish traditional Chinese subtitles form simplified Chinese subtitles.

I've been dying to see this movie. I was working a small film festival during its theatrical run and I caught some glimpses of it. It looks like such a beautiful film. Is it worth waiting for a US release or should I just buy the Korean disc? Is there even a date for the US release?

I am not aware of any plans for a US release. The disc I reviewed is spectacular, both in terms of audio and video.

I second to that. One of the best presentations I have seen so far. The movie itself is the crowning achievement in Ang Lee's canon, a true masterpiece!

To add to the very favorable review of this disc on Blu-ray.com, there's now a perhaps even more favorable review on DVDTalk:

http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/36321/lust-caution/

It's "in stock" at Amazon (US) for $34.49; I think I'll have to order it!
