Default Semi-Pro Oops

Im sorry if anyone has posted this. I ran a search and didnt find anything.

I was watching TV and saw a new ad with Will Ferrell as his Semi-Pro character except this time he was promoting Bud-Light. At the end it said the movie would be available on DVD and BLUE-RAY

It was actually spelled "Blue-ray" in the commercial? Wow.

I think Will Ferrell made it that way on purpose.

I have not seen the ad, but maybe he is saying "BLUE-Ray" because the movie and the character are from the 70's and he does not know what a Blu-ray is. Like the one for Old Spice where he is listing consest prizes and he mentions the contest runs through 1977.

You must still be a teenager. Im not saying it as a bad thing, but once you get into your 20s, the guys comedy gets a little annoying, but the movies in general are decent, although I havent seen this one

if I was trying to describe what is bad about his comedy, I'd say it's lazy. so what happens is, he plays the same character for like 5 movies in a row, and yeah like 3 times of a movie he hits a great joke, but that's it.

I think the only time this character really worked was Anchorman. I know lots of people hate it, but I think it's his one real quality movie, but keep in mind it's not just because of feral... there's a lot of funny actors in that movie. more than something like Blades of Glory or Semi-Pro.

edit - that's not to single out feral or anything. a lot of actors, especially comedy actors, get put into or put themselves into this kind of situation. the none michael cera kid fvrom superbad, can't remember his name, is a good example. he plays the same guy all the time. in my opinion it worked best the first time I saw it in Accepted, an underrated movie, and it now is so overdone that in Dewey Cox I thought it destroyed the entire character of the dead brother. ugh, it just didn't fit at all.

I'm right ther with you friend. I Think Will is hilarious. Old School, Anchorman, Talladega nights, the list goe on and on, I love em all.

And i'm not a teenager, I'm a late 20's professional and most my friends feel the same way about Will.

I think Old School is as far as I will go as his comedy works.

Old School was good. Everything else, you might as well have him have the same name because in every movie he is the EXACT same character. Honestly if your in your late 20s and Will Ferrels your favorite comedian...ahh nevermind.

1) Anchorman
2) Old School
3) Talladega Nights: Ballad of Ricky Bobby
4) Semi-Pro
5) Blades of Glory

That's his top 5.

Veronica: Mr. Burgundy, you're acting like a baby.

Ron Burgundy: I am not a baby, I am a man. I am an ANCHORMAN.

Veronica: You are not a man. You are a big fat joke!

Ron Burgundy: I'm a man who discovered the wheel, and built the Eiffel Tower out of metal and brawn! That's what kind of man I am. You're just a woman with a small brain. With a brain a third the size of us. It's science.

Damn, and I'm in my latter 30s and I think the guy is funny. Humor, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. Be thankful.

P.S. Rent "Stranger than Fiction."

+1 I am in my VERY late 20's and think he has some good stuff out there, guess some people are just to "high brow" for his comedy...Different strokes for different folks I guess...
