Default FYE Receives Boost from Blu-ray.

FYE Receives Boost from Blu-ray. I will be honest here, I never shop at FYE, because their prices are Anyways, it appears that blu-ray sales are having a very positive effect for Transworld (FYE). Nothing too exciting here, but usefull ammunition in case of a chance FUD encounter. I am only going to post the two parts where Blu-ray is mentioned. From Video Business News:

"Trans World still spinning from music declines; but games, DVD are strong
New ads will support merchandising shifts
By Susanne Ault -- Video Business, 5/22/2008
MAY 22 | Trans World Entertainment reported wider losses in its first-quarter fiscal 2008, despite strong videogame sales and positive DVD comps boosted by Blu-ray."

"On a comp store basis, DVD hiked 4%. Although Trans World’s Top 50 disc releases fell 12% from the results from its Top 50 last year, management said that increasing contributions from Blu-ray sales helped boost the category. DVD was 41% of the chain’s business, marking an uptick from 38% last year."

I really can't believe FYE is still in business. Even back to the Wherehouse days, all I EVER did was sell my movies back to them. I always took cash and never store credit. Same goes for everyone I know.

Their prices are horrible and the store is always empty everytime I go there (to sell DVDs back).

Went there once because I was looking for an entire season of Enterprise, they wanted 119$ for it, and amazon wanted 39$, haven't stepped foot in there since.

If you took it up and it was scaned it would have come up $69.99. They probably never changed the sticker

If you can handle the rebate process FYE.COM, as distict from in-store, is often the cheapest for New Releases, even with Tax. If you are a Backstage pass member you get another 10% off, $250 in Blu purchases per year is the break even point for the BSP program. I like trading for Store Credit (25% higher) and then using it to get new releases on-line. Have got $2K in rebates over the past 4 years with little or no problems. Currently 10% promo on line with code MEMDAY2008, good on pre-orders. Free Shipping over $25, and if you order includes pre-orders from multiple weeks they ship seperately as no extra cost.

Actually...I love going to Fye's because they sell used Blu-Ray at good prices...and have buy 2 get 1 free with that. Plus, every "used" blu-ray I've bought from them was still unopened - guess they were returns. Even had Disney magic code inserts and everything.

Sometimes I'll walk into a fye store if a only need a good laugh. That's what I think of their full MSRP prices. $39.99 for a single disc Blu-ray movie? Not.

The only thing I can say positively about fye is they have a large selection of Blu-ray discs. Well, at least the one in my city does. I'll read over BD packaging there whenever I'm in the mall. But I'm not buying anything there unless they have a really serious sale. For now, I'm just getting most of my BD movies from Amazon.
