Exclamation PS3 remote doesn't work sometimes

Hey

So many times I'll put a random BR DVD in and the disc will play but the remote won't work either WiFi or connected. I am forced to reboot the PS3 to make the PS3 sort of reset and recognize the remote again.

Other than this VERY frustrating issue I love my PS3.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Which remote? The game controller, the 'remote', or one of those after market types. With both the controller and remote that I have, pressing the PS button briefly usually does the trick to get it recognized without a restart. They operate through Bluetooth, not wifi (as far as I know). Other than that, I'd see is there was a problem with my system settings.

The game controller which is also the remote unless I missed another remote when opening my box. The regular game controller that comes with the PS3 and has 4 flashing LEDs on the front when operating.

I actually find the controls very easy to use for DVD navigation and like my system except for this one issue.

And it seems the bluetooth option doesn't last very long. Like a few hours until you have to connect to USB again and when you do that the remote occasionally doesn't work. You have to reboot the PS3 to get it to recognize that now you are using USB.

But that's not the only time. Just seems to happen randomly. And also it seems very tricky to engage the on/off button on the top front right of the PS3. (not the rear master power switch).

Ah. So the controller's giving this person issues. Yeah this person should buy the Official Sony Bluetooth PS3 BD Remote. It's easier.

Did you press the PS button? I have found that sometimes you have to "wake-up" the controller.

yeah I tried that. Anyway I bought that sweet remote at BicCamera today but I can't get it to work

Do I have to enable it in the PS3 on screen menu or something? It came with 2 batteries so obviously it doesn't need charging so what gives?

Thanks

p.s. the remote does not have a power switch

You need to enable it by going to Settings. There is a separate option to enable the Bluetooth Remote. Think it uses up the seventh slot (Out of seven possible bluetooth devices that can connect to PS3 simultaneously)

Dude...you rock. The remote kicks ass!! I don't know how I ever did without it.

My PS3 is in Japanese so sometimes I miss the small details

Now I am going to watch my new Japanese iRobot

b4 I read just "restarting" the ps3 by holding down the power button, I did the quick reformat of the hDD and now my Remote(not the controller) works 100% again
