Question Accepts 1080p 24hz signal

Why doe my tvs spec say it can accept a 1080p signal at 24hz but when I set my pioneer blu ray player at 1080p the tv just flickers on and off. The signal that is. I have a pioneer pro1540. I have everything running through the pioneer elite 82 series with hdmi. I am thinking its because my receiver cant handle it. Do you think I should just run the hdmi cable straight to the tv? Would the picture quality be any more better if it was run that way and the bd player was set to 1080p? Right now its set at 1080i 24hz and it looks great..All opinions welcome please..

Try running directly to the monitor and this should work. Check your manual for the receiver it might only accept 1080p/60. Since everything is being moved digitally there is no lose going between your receiver. This is only a analog signal issue when going threw the receiver.

I skimmed threw the manual of the Pioneer elite 82 online and it only mentions 1080I and not 1080P. Your receiver does not support 1080P switching regardless of the frame rate.

There is a new Pioneer Elite that suppose to come out around summer time that supports 1080P switching and HDMI 1.3 with the new HDTV audio formats. You could always upgrade in the future and place your Elite 82 in another room or auction it off on EBAY several months or years in the future.

1080P/24 is the source material on the BLU-RAY disc. It would be better to run that directly into the monitor. Your PR-1540HD will display the 1080P signal at 720P quality since it has 1365 X 768 Plasma.

Through analog cables, since he have a standalone player (i.e not PS3).
