Default PS3 game play screen question...

I've had my PS3 for a few months now and have noticed that in games like Uncharted and Lego Indiana Jones that when I'm playing the image seems to occasionally get a line that scrolls from top to bottom almost like the data is refreshing or lagging.

I've been trying to figure out how to explain it... I hope that make sense. I'm PS3 is hooked up to a Sony 46" XBR4 via HDMI. Everything seems to be on the right settings but maybe I'm missing something.

Am I alone in this? Please let me know...

Thanks.

It's called screen tearing, some games have it worse than others. nothing is wrong with your t.v its the games themselfs. The Lego games tend to be well known for screen tearing. I have Lego star wars the complete saga and it occurs regulary. If you have a game on PC you can normaly enable V-sync to stop this from happening as much.

Don't worry though nothing is wrong with your t.v or setup!

Oh and welcome to Blu-Ray forums! The most pleasant forums on the Web!

You can take care of the screen tearing in Lego Indiana Jones by going to the Options menu when you pause the game and enabling the V-Sync option. This will eliminate the screen tearing for that game

SWEET! Thanks for the tip! What does V-Sync stand for... besides possibly video sync... and why wouldn't this be on from the beginning?

V-Sync stands for vertical synchronization. screen tearing is what happens when a partial image is displayed before it's completely processed, displaying half new image and half old image.
what v-sync does is essentially prevent a partial image from displaying and waits for a complete one, unfortuantely this comes at the expense of frame rate.
