Default Cloverfield Problem

I recently purchased Cloverfield. It would not play on my Samsung BD-P1000. I made sure of my update (version 1.5). It still wouldn't play past "Loading...". I called Samsung. "Bad Disc", they said. I replaced it. It still won't play. I called again. Technology said that I need to wait for another firmware update.

My question to the forum: Has anybody out there been able to play Cloverfield using a Samsung BD-P1000 player??

Sorry man, I have one of the worst players (BDP-s301) and it is fine.

Do you have a ps3 or a friend with a ps3???

(just to check if its the disc or not.)

I tell ya...it is expensive right now, but in the infancy of this technology, it helps to have two players.

Good luck, if you need anything please pm me,

Same problem here. Called Samsung on Wednesday and got same response. Told them I figured it was firmware related but wanted to know when a new one would be out. Rep had no idea. Told them I was looking at buying a new player but would not be getting a Samsung because of lack of firmware support.

Samsung sure is screwing the pooch on firmware and crappy machines. I have yet to have any problem with any disc and I have the original Sony BDP S1. I'm a couple updates below what I should have as well. When I'm sure the machines are as future proof as they are going to get then I will buy another machine and move my current one to the bedroom. I'm thinking Pioneer Elite to match my future Elite receiver(couple months from now). All the updates tend to frustrate me.

we had the same problem with our sony blu-ray, when we hit play movie after 10 seconds it would just freeze but if we do it through scene selection it would play it, but we did the update on it and its working fine now, on the ps3 it had no problems at all

Why does it seem that only Sony stays on top of there firmware.

I have an s300 and it might not be the greatest player in the world but Sony is always on the ball with there firmware.

When I first popped Cloverfield in my PS3 it didn't show up. I ejected it and put it back in and everything was fine. No problems since.

You don't really expect Sony to be behind on FW do you! They invented the technology.

Matsushita/Panasonic did a hell of a lot to develop Blu-ray technology as well. Blu-ray is NOT a Sony-only thing, contrary to popular belief.

Having watched Cloverleaf and observed the rather huge bit rate used on that movie, I can't help but wonder if the players of some viewers might be getting bogged down by maximum levels of BD data bandwidth being thrown at them. At the 20 minute mark I saw the PS3 video meter peg the 50 million bit per second mark at one point. Jeez. I thought the video bit rates weren't ever supposed to go above 40Mb/s. It appears to me the 54Mb/s limit (and disc capacity) is the real hard line on data bandwidth. I've seen other movies have the video bit rate go well over 40Mb/s. Juno is one example.

my BD P1000 wont play it either. Tried both the current uk and us firmwares (v1.3 and v1.5) and both suffer the same problem. My friends ps3 booted up first time with no problems.

Another main reason the PS3 is the best BD player out there!

And another reason the BDP-S300 is a solid stand alone player..
