To counteract this "brilliant" idea I have recently pefected the super duper upconversion VHS player, now to remove errors from the tape on your old VHS's for clarity unmatched.

They must be on pretty powerfull pain pills to think this line of reasoning will work at all ! I guess you would need very powerfull pills to get over the sound beating they got from the blu side ! Delusions, delusions

Nice find, fun read.

"...receiving some far from publishable questions and insults from the assembled journalists..." Love to know how that went.

I want a major studio to drop DVD support so bad. I know there probably is not a chance in heck, but wouldn't that be funny if Toshiba announces a PR about "Blu-ray Killing Technology" and then the next day Disney, Sony, Fox, and Lionsgate all announce that they will be dropping the DVD format by 2010.

Toshiba would have just wasted another billion dollars.

Fox or Sony. Fox is anal about copy protection and security, so they might just get fed up with DVD pirating. Sony for obvious reasons.

It'd be nice to see a Blu comparison thrown up with those pics

sadly enough, the cut was too deep for them to come to blu, so soon after its defeat they mentioned about how they were in the process to release super upconversion players.

So what is the retail price off this thing? Toshiba better not be starting a pricing war between blu-ray again! Plus by the time it gets on the market blu-ray might be massive and hard to take down.

Does anyone know if Toshiba plans to use the Cell for their "upscaling players"? I know they have plans to use it in their TVs.
