I don't get anything like that via HDMI on my PS3. Check your cabling. Might be a bad cable. Either that or your TV or receiver is just bad at handling HDMI handshaking.

It makes like a ripple sound in the speakers...when you put the game in and it goes blank and shows hdmi1 in the corner then the ripple then the game starts up...maybe i have something plugged in wrong??? or settings wrong somewhere?

This tv isnt a year old yet. Hope its ok and my ps3 isnt even a week old yet lol

How loud is the popping noise?

Also, your TV will switch between HD and non HD and that is what is producing the HDMI 1 in the corner of your screen. I'm sure there are more knowledgable people here that can explain it better, but that is normal. My TV does this.

its not really loud...but since everything is quiet at that moment you can hear it good...its kinda like either one pop...or poppopopop all together then the game comes on...it does it like right when the game is about to come in from the hdmi1 screen...thats all...just doesnt seem normal..wondering what could be the problem in fixing it.

The popping is the only thing that seems to be an issue. How loud do you keep your volume when you start your games?

Try using the red/white/yellow compentents instead of the HDMI. See if you can isolate your problem.

Game mode is to prevent burn in. It lightens the colors, due to games tending to have static images.

Tried the components yet?

Ok i went to my menu and srs trusurround xt was on...i turned it off...put the game in 2 times no popping....Could that be the case...or should i be able to keep that on and play the game.....And it says searching for signals...then mode not supported...it still plays the game tho...Any idea why it does that also...I am going to plug the components in now

That I do not know. Maybe ask a mod to move this thread into the audio section. There are people there that really know there stuff.

Looks like you've found a solution on your own though. Keep trying things out. You'll find a setting that works for what you have.

Good luck.

Hey-

Surprised no one answered this yet. I'm 99% sure it's just HDMI handshaking. Some components are better than others. My HDTV doesn't do it at all but plugged into my new receiver, the HDMI now pops lightly when it switches over. It's just kind of how HDMI works unfortunately. It shouldn't be very loud or long but it is probably going to do it every time.

You could try and see if there are any firmware updates for your TV or receiver but I doubt it'll change the pop. That's actually why you're not hearing it when it's "searching for signal".

Yeah mine use to pop due to this but it either stopped or I don't notice it anymore.

Do you by any chance have a Samsung LCD? If you do, this is a known issue with the HMDI. It is no big deal and will not cause any harm. Check out AVS.com for more info. This is not an audio issue...as stated before it is 100% a handshake issue. Also, check with your TV manufacturer as a firmware update may alleviate this problem.

My Sharp Aquous LCD Does it too, I just shook it off as something it needed to do, it looks like it's something to do with handshaking though, doesn't seem detrimental to the TV or anything. Also, I can't confirm or deny it does it with the Cable box, my box only supports component for some lame odd reason.
