Default Buzzing Noise from Samsung LCD?

Hey out there. My brother recently got a new Samsung LCD and he told me that last night it started a Buzzing noise. Now, he has had this working fine for about 2 weeks and hasnt messed with it. The only thing maybe i can think of is it may need a Ground Loop Isolator. He said that the buzzing noise will go away if the tv is put to Mute (no receiver in his setup) and the buzzing stays whether it is playing the ps3 or cable. Any suggestions?

No, he has nothing for surround sound. Just input to the tv..

I would check the AC outlet and see if anything is loose/wired correctly. How much of a load is on one circuit and what is all on the same circuit. Maybe even replace the outlet itself. other than that I don't know. He very well may have to take back the TV before it's too late.

Well, i wouldnt say its overloaded. He has the tv, HD cable box, router and modem, and ps3. Ill have to play with the connections to see if i can tell where its coming from, and if not, its back to the store i guess.

The buzzing that you are referring to is a well documented problem on several models of Samsung LCD's. You can find more information regarding how widespread the issues are on the AVS forum. From what I have read in the past, the units plagued by the "buzzing" are usually 40" and below LCD's. Some members of AVS have also stated that they have eliminated the problem by turning the backlight up to 10. Apparently the issue has to do with the level that the backlight is set to. Have your brother raise his backlight level and see if that helps.

Is that the only equipment on that circuit though? Sometimes, especially in older homes a lot of crap may be on one circuit. For example fridge, air conditioner, etc......... Outlets can go bad too or the wiring could be at fault.

If not I would take it back.

Well seems like you may have gotten a better answer on the TV as the problem. I don't know if I would keep it with that kind of a problem. Being new and all.
