Default Dead Xbox360 display machine at local store

This just gets funnier everytime I go into this store. Their Xbox360 display machine has been broken three times now. The second time it was sitting on one of the common error screens for about a month betore it was replaced. Just visited about an hour ago and the new one is broken again.

It's a standard issue display case so I can't see anything wrong with that. Maybe the store just has bad luck?

You know what, my 360's keep on fouling up as well. My first one got the 3 lights of death after 9 monts, so what'd do i swapped it out at a local wally world. So now i've had it for 4 months and now it freezes up everytime i try and play it. This thing gives me so much trouble.

It's been more than a year since its launch, and the 360 is still plagued with bugs, and issues.

Default 3rd time's the charm...

I'm on my 3rd 360, but I'm ready this time. I bought the NYKO intercooler, which keeps it cooler. However in addition to the system itself, the whole thing sounds like a Semi-Truck.

Three?

Wow, you're more forgiving than I am.

Please tell me that you weren't out of pocket for any of it, at least, and that you were under warranty all the way for those.

There are a total of 4 X360 consoles at my local bestbuy... At least all of them have been replaced at least once, which is understandable, but one of the ones on an endcap in my department, I've replaced at least twice, and all it does is play a DVD all day.

No, I didn't pay for anything. As a matter of fact, I complained that I could not use Xbox Live while they tried to fix it and got a free game from them.

Not to ramble, but it took 3 months to get my system to work this last time. Between a faulty replacement, and hard drive... it was horrible. Thankfully it all happened before 1 FEB '07, my warranty just expired.

I must just be very lucky, my X360 has worked like a charm since I got it 8 months ago, though it does sound like a jet engine.

yeah, there all like that. My first though when seeing a Xbox 360 playing was "wow...thats loud" My PS3 stays pretty quite, I keep in in my cabinet under my TV. I open my cabinet doors when I'm using it, Once I forgot to and was playing for about 45 mins till I realized the doors were closed and when I opened it "wow, That thing was LOUD" (not good to have it running without any air flow) Most the time its quiet and stays pretty cool.

Heard from my friend, the replacment Xbox he got after his xbox deid, just died on him after 3 months of having it. Now he is getting screwed by Micosoft about getting another one. I was wondering how many other people this is happening to?

Hope this dosen't start happening to the PS3's (Knock on wood)

I know from experience that any electronic device that has a fan to help cool it, needs as much room to breathe as possible. Put a device like this in an enclosed space, it wont be long before it dies. The three biggest death-givers for all electronics are heat, dust and cigarette smoke and that aint just me telling you this! Those display units in the stores are accidents waiting to happen. They're on 12 hours a day every day and enclosed in plexiglass cages. Good for security but deadly for lifespan.

I never liked the idea of just a 90 day warranty. Nice to see MS finally increase it to one year.

Quote:
Microsoft Extends Xbox 360 Warranty to One Year Shoppers can buy with added confidence this holiday season as Microsoft expands its warranty for Xbox 360 from 90 days to one year.

REDMOND, Wash. — Dec. 22, 2006 — In a move to benefit customers, Microsoft Corp. announced today that it will change the Xbox 360™ warranty from 90 days to one year from the date of purchase in the United States and Canada. Microsoft extended the warranty in these territories to be consistent with the standard one-year Xbox 360 warranty that is available throughout most of the world. The news is reason to celebrate this holiday season; it applies to both would-be purchasers and those who already have Xbox 360 and are still within their first year of ownership.

Effective today, the one-year warranty is now the standard for the Xbox 360 console. Customers who experience hardware issues with their Xbox 360 within one year of purchase can have their consoles repaired at no cost. Moreover, the new warranty policy is retroactive, so consumers who may have already paid for an out-of-warranty Xbox 360 repair within one year of purchase will be eligible for reimbursement of their console repair charges.

“Customer satisfaction is a central focus and priority for the Xbox 360 system,” said Jeff Bell, corporate vice president of Global Marketing for the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft. “In addition to jaw-dropping features such as high-definition graphics, an amazing catalog of over 160 games, and social online and entertainment experiences on Xbox Live®, the Xbox 360 system now offers this extended warranty upgrade. It is truly the industry’s most compelling home entertainment offering.”

Customers who have already paid out-of-warranty repair charges within their first year of ownership can expect reimbursement checks for the amount of their console repair in approximately 10 weeks. Reimbursements will be automatically distributed, so customers need not contact Microsoft. Customers who have questions regarding this policy change or experience any hardware issues should visit http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/contact where they can check their warranty status, find troubleshooting information for common issues and find Xbox support contact information.

If your xbox dies that quickly it's not your fault, I reccomend costco. When mine died, I didn't even need my receipt to do a part for part exchange. I am waiting a lil while, if mine acts up ever again i'll exchange it for the new 65nm and Benq drive version.
