Post Armageddon or Deep Impact?

I'm for Armageddon on Blu-ray all the way! Although Deep Impact was good and it had some thrilling asteroid sequences, but it was geared mostly towards drama. But still, I vote Armageddon. Love Bruce Willis, hate Ben Affleck!

Enough said.

Armageddon was quite enjoyable in a cheesy way and also had a great cast, but Deep Impact was just plain and simply disappointing. It could have been so much more.

Armageddon is frickin awesome! In BD it'd be just stunning. Deep Impact is a pretty decent drama movie, but the climax isn't that good I think :/ Pretty disappointing.

I'd rather see Frodo save his babe rather than Ben Affleck crying like a baby over Bruce Willis.

I wouldn't even expect it that soon, the original masters for Armageddon were lost in a fire, before kicking it over to blu they would have to create a new master, then a blu master. Michael Bay oversees all his blu transfers, and with him working on Transformers 2, then possibly Bad Boys 3 I wouldn't expect Armageddon until at least 2011/12.

I have to agree with you there. But would you really expect anything more from a Michael Bay film?

Armageddon was such a horrible movie overall. It was a great popcorn theater experience, but Deep Impact is a better product.

Armageddon by a nitch because Deep Impact was pretty good as well but Armageddon has the upper-hand by hollywood. Disney is pretty good at converting dvds to blu-ray so Armageddon is most likely to be released on blu-ray before Deep Impact.

Same here. Is it good acting? No, but the action is great and the corny storyline just sucks you into it. All those slow mo scenes, the cheering crowd.

Like someone else said, this is from Disney, it should be in MEG-4 AVC and look and sound fantastic!

Armageddon:

We would finally get a 16x9 enhanced transfer and knowing Disney it would also get the PCM 5.1 treatment. The current DD 5.1 on the Criterion is an ass kicker to begin with, so imagine what a PCM 5.1 would do.

Deep Impact:

While a more serious movie it just gets boring to watch after awhile.

My vote is for Armageddon.

Armageddon... 2 reasons. Harry Gregson-Williams, Electric Violin... Fantastic score to this one. Plus there's never been an anamorphic version, and to hear Michael Bay talk about the ammount of detail that went into the opening shot, it's a sin not to have a high quality version of it. Plus it has more rewatch value than Deep Impact... Plus it seems more realistic than Deep Impact which is sad because of how far fetched Armageddon seems. But because Deep Impact didn't have the support of NASA, the whole movie just seemed fakey and made-for-TV-ish.

Michael Bay mention that armageddon won't be release so fast as the master is burn in a fire.
they will have to re-master them to prepare for blu-ray release.

I'd have to say Deep Impact for the storyline and heartfelt performances, where as i loved Armageddon, its more actiony and America saves the day etc etc
