Default Buy a 7.1 analog blu-ray or replace receiver?

I would like to take advantage of 7.1.THE 1400 has 5.1 analog out, so that's all i get.Reciever has 7.1 analog in but no hdmi. Should i wait for a newer blu-ray or buy new reciever. The one i own is denon avr787 and the one iam looking at is a yamaha RXV380B?DO you think the bd p1400 would work well with this yamaha reciever?Any suggestionsI want to make the right decision on this. When iam looking to spend $1500 i want to have no regrets. The sales person had me sold on the reciever,So i walked away to post this and hopefully get some help on my decision.

You're a good man then!

If you are happy with your current player, then just get a new receiver.

Get a new receiver and forget the Samsung. Go with Pana or even the Magnavox at Walmart.

Not too many people are going to help you if you capitalize every word.

I agree with captainrac the Panasonic BD30 would be a far better choice to go with your new receiver.

Personally I'm keeping my receiver and getting a Pioneer player when the new ones come out for analog outs, but I don't have quite as much to spend as you.

Keep the Blu-ray player for now and definitely buy yourself a new receiver. The Denon AVR787 only has 96kHz / 24 bit DACs, which are not as good as today's standard of 192kHz / 24 bit. Since the 1400 can only play DTS-HD MA tracks by bitstreaming, and not decoding, you would only get the core DTS track by using the analog outputs. If you use your current player and bitstream out, you can pick up a receiver with better DACs and internal lossless decoders, like the RX-V3800, and hit the ground running.
You certainly don't have to spend $1,500 to find a receiver footing the bill, but if I had the money to spend I'd be looking right at the RX-V3800 as well.

Thank You,Right know iam getting truedd and dtshd,Set the player to pcm and run it ext-in on denon. the 1400 decodes it.Iam not rich but i know how important a reciever is ,especially in these days.I don't want to regret buying something 4 years down the road. All your comments are important to me,putting this thread out is me do my part of investigating on this reciever or looking at the possibility on buying a new blu-ray with 7.1 analog.?The reciever i have sounds good and the 1400 was not given me any problems in 5.1,This is me thinking it might be time to upgrade. Thanks guys keep it coming if you can

I would focus on the receiver first. Although you can technically get lossless audio over analog inputs, its a far less than ideal experience. Chances are your receiver (like almost all on the market) will run the analog inputs through A/D converters to convert the signal back into the PCM domain for processing. So, you'll start with a lossless digital signal, convert it to analog, send it via analog to your receiver, convert it back to PCM, have the receiver apply its processing to the signal, and then convert it back to analog for output to your speakers. That's a far less than ideal way to handle digital signals.

If you BD-P1400 is serving you well as a player for now, and you don't need BonusView or BD-Live functionality right away, I would definitely wait on upgrading the player, and focus on getting a "future-proof" (as if there is such a thing) receiver that can decode all the audio formats internally via HDMI. That will provide the biggest upgrade and should last you quite awhile compared to buying another Blu-ray player that you'll likely want to replace again in a year or two.

Just my $.02.

yeah, upgrade the receiver. You already have the player to provide lossless audio, you just need the receiver.

Sorry I didn't understand that you already HAD a Samsung -1400, I thought you were going to buy it. So you have 1500 to spend on a new receiver? That will get you a very NICE receiver.

I don't know much about the Yamaha but some others in that price range if you want to compare would be Denon 2808, Marantz 7002, Pioneer Elite -94.

Incidentally, to JadedRiverLA, my dad's ancient Denon 2802 and my even more ancient (and cheaper) Marantz 5300 will pass analog signals directly through to the power amp bypassing all the digital stuff. It's probably more common than you think, on higher-end receivers.

I just found some information on the Yamaha rxv3800b.I guess i would have to upgrade(firmware ?)in it.This reciever has problems with popping through dtshd?(should i worry about that)That's something i don't like to hear from a $1500 reciever.JAdedRaverLA if your still around, what would be the reciever for you if you had to upgrade and if you could tell me why(i would be very interested?)The dealer i go to also has pioneer elite receivers as well .My best experience with receivers were denon and yamaha. Is pioneer elite something i should be looking at as well?Crackinhedz i noticed you have a pioneer reciever(For some reason,I don't know why i don't trust pioneer for there receivers but iam willing to keep a open mind )Guardian what do you think about pioneer. For some reason i feel i've been stuck on stupid when it comes to hdmi and recievers, not really knowing what to ask for to keep a blu-ray player running smoothly. I don't want to say a year down the road"Sh*t i should of got that feature on my reciever"All of your comments have been appreciated and i Thank you for taking the time.
