Any blu-ray titles you will NOT buy to replace the dvd version? Face it, we all bought DVD's which have gone on the back burner or otherwise regretted outright.
I'm not going to let myself get fooled into thinking I'll like the movie better on blu-ray. I may love the picture better, but that is just eye candy and does nothing for the story or plot line. How many plan on trimming their collection as a result? |

Probably none the tv series or b&w movies that I own. I also doubt I'll replace any comedies or dramas unless they offer something substantially new in the blu ray release . All my horror will get the blu ray make over. All my epic, action packed, and effects heavy stuff will obviously get upgraded as well as all my cgi animated stuff.

It has to be the epic or large scale movies, franchises, such as:
1. Both the Alien and Predator series 2. Die Hard series 3. Lord of the Rings (a no-brainer) 4. Blade trilogy 5. Indiana Jones series (trilogy plus the 4th one next year) 6. Star Wars (the original three) 7. Matrix trilogy 8. Nightmare on Elm Street series (most of them anyway) 9. Hellraiser series (the first four) 10. Halloween (I and II) 11. Tron 12. Braveheart 13. Jaws 14. Close Encounters of the Third Kind 15. 2001 Space Odyssey 16. Blade Runner 17. Mad Max trilogy 18. Starship Troopers 19. Spiderman 2 20. Last of the Mohicans These are just some of the movies that I'm planning on owning before long. |

I went through my collection, and I'm only planning on replacing 25-30% with Blu
I might eventually go as high as 50 based on in-store prices, but there's a ton of things I seriously doubt will be low enough for a very long time for me to even think about it |

I will only replace my Pixar DVDs as the Blu Rays become available. I'm quite happy with the way my Panny has been upscaling my DVDs so I'll hang onto them unless a Blu Ray release provides something the DVDs do not - Close Encounters for instance will replace my DVD.

I got these 3 for free with one of my first dvd players:
Rambo First Blood Part II Lost In Space (1998) Red Planet Not only are these collecting dust, but I'm pretty sure I actually put dust on them to ensure they aren't accidentally released from their dvd cases which really is more of a prison than a protective enclosure. These will NOT be replaced if they make a BR release. ![]() |

I probably won't replace any comedies or my wifes chick flicks.
I mainly replace action/horror movies and rent the rest. |

Out of 1450 DVD's, I'm only replacing stuffI REALLY want again in Blu. I've always been a collector and after replacing VHS with Laserdisc, then replacing Laserdisc with DVD and now Blu-Ray... I've kinda learned that if there's one thing this industry has taught me, it's that nothing stays the same for long. I'm getting any new title I want, in Blu' for sure. I'm just sick of replacing movies and finding they're not worth spit later on.

I'm replacing my favorites and any cherished classics, like the AFI 100 etc. I might not watch the cherished classics alot, but I like having them at theater grade quality to occassionally watch in my front projection home theater. 99% of my comedies will not be replaced. All the run of the mill comedies just aren't worth it. They are all filmed with pretty much the same look. Warm palette, flat lighting, plenty of color, and lite detailing, but nothing that blows you away. I also won't be replacing my drive in classics, death race 2000 looked great for what it is in Blu Ray, but it never looked that great to start with.

Well, movies that I didn't like the first time on DVD are the ones I won't be replacing. Also, titles with similar/fewer extras than their DVD counterpart fall into similar category. Apart from that, if I like the film or if it's a limited edition release, I'm game.

There are 2 deciding factors on upgrading my dvds to blus. 1- Do I actually watch this movie enough to warrant spending more money on it. 2- Is the blu-ray transfer worth upgrading for, if the transfer is only marginally better I don't think it's necessary to upgrade.
