I am considering bumping my BDP-S1 player up to the guest room and getting a PS3 for our home theatre. This is to (hopefully) load java/BluRay discs faster, to put Utube on the big screen and to stream music from the home network.
Particularly with the music application, heat and noise are an issue. Is the newest PS3-80gb on skinnier silicon so it is cooler than the more available PS3-40 gb model? IBM announced a shrink to 45nanometer silicon in Feb `08 - any idea if this is in the PS3-80 or is it for later this year? [My interest up to this point is editing HDV movies on BluRay using PremierePro and DVDit Pro HD so I haven't followed PS3 developments as I might] |
