Default Problems w/ PS3 BD remote control

Anyone having problems keeping their BD remote control connected to their PS3? I've had the remote about 2 weeks and have had to re-configure the PS3 3 different times to accept the signals from the remote, which is getting pretty aggravating. Anyone have this problem, or does anyone know what the cause could be?

I have the same remote and i've had no problems. Since you've had it only 2 weeks exchange it for another one to see if its a bad remote.

Yep, zero problems here too. I would also suggest returning it for a replacement.

Does the controller need to always be connected to the unit via it's USB connection? It seems that when I disconnect it thats when I have the problem.

I didn't notice a USB connection, mine runs on batteries. Are you using fresh batteries?

The USB connection is for the controller that comes with the PS3, not the remote control itself. For whatever reason, everytime I disconnect it I then get the problem with the remote no longer working. Don't know if it's a coincidence or what

Try this:

1) Take out the batteries in the remote.
2) Plug in the controller.
3) Press the PS button.
4) Remove the USB charger from the controller. Verify that it is registered as controller 1. If you have two or more, register your controller first.
5) Put in the batteries of the remote then register it.

Register the controler that came with the PS3 on controler one, then unplug it... I know they say with modern technology you don't have memory charge issues, but its just easier leave the damn thing unplugged rather than risk a memory charge.

With the 3Axis controler unplugged, register the bluetooth controler. It should be good to go, and not need re-registration.

Not had a single problem with mine, and this is the procedure I used.

This remote is a Bluetooth remote correct? If that is the case, does that eliminate the option of using a Universal Remote Control with the PS3? That is a big draw back for me. I was hoping to use my Philips Pronto Professional to control my PS3. Any ideas?

Thanks for the prompt reply. That and DVD upconversion should be 1 and 2 on their list.

Default my ps3 bd remote and controllers were not working until i did this...

my ps3 bd remote was not working at all (ensured fresh batteries) and controllers only worked while plugged in. i also tried re-pairing, but that did not help, either. i've had my ps3 and bd remote for about two years.

here is what i did to fix the problem:
  1. put the ps3 on standby either via the button on the front or thru the interface via the controller (while plugged in)
  2. switched the ps3 off from the back
  3. unplugged all cables (HDMI, power and USB cable for controller)
  4. left the house and came back a few hours later
  5. sprayed compressed air through all the vents on the ps3 and waited until all moisture from the compressed air dried
  6. plugged the power and HDMI cable in
  7. turned on the ps3
the bd remote began working as expected.

i then charged my controllers and confirmed that both worked after unplugging the cables.

i think the key was shutting down, unplugging and waiting a while before starting up. i sprayed the compressed air for safe measure (and my ps3 was pretty dusty.)

Not totally. Check out the Blu-Link from SNK Link. It is a universal remote that combines an infrared transmitter and a Bluetooth transmitter for the PS3.

I have one and it works great, albeit the buttons are a little small.
