I don't know how they did it but there was a PS3 modder from Japan that did a 1TB RAID system. Then there was another guy who said his 1 TB SATA (not RAID) drive can't be accessed by the PS3 even though it was formatted by the PS3 and everything.

I don't think so. Wouldn't you need a SCSI controller?

You can do it with a SATA enclosure, as long as you have that piece for the PS3 that lets you connect via eSATA (its name escapes me at the moment).

Just wondering what you would need data striping for on a PS3? I could understand RAID1 for redundancy, but an external drive with striping? RAID0 is for performance, IE running games or video editing, both of which cannot be done on the external drive on a PS3.

RAIDS need to be of the same 2 harddrives. I highly doubt that would work. I know for a fact it will not on a PC, but im not sure with the ps3. My guess would be no due to how RAIDS function.

Yep. As long as its a completely external solution that is hardware-based and doesn't require drivers, you'll be good to go.

Exactly. You can't create a RAID 0 array using three different sized drives... well, you can, but you'll only be using the smallest size (60GB in this case) of each drive. Quite a waste of the 1 TB drive.
