Default Hannibal rising- Weinstein/MGM?

Hi. I just saw the trailer for the new "hannibal rising" movie. I know weinstein is supposedly HD-DVD exclusive, but if this film is connected with MGM in some way, does anyone think that we may see it on blu-ray as well?

yup, 'tis a weinstein movie which means those lucky, lucky hd-dvd'rs get it. Oh... how I envy them... and they also have access to Arthur and the Invisibles! Oh, cruel fate...

But seriously, though I have no aspirations for Hannibal Rising being a good movie, it would be nice to have it on the blu-ray side.

Lucky Number Slevin and Clerks 2 were both Weinstein/MGM movies and they are HD-DVD exclusive so I believe Hannibal Rising will follow suit.

All in good time. All that has to happen is BD sale trends to even stay steady let alone continue upwards as practically every indicator suggests.

Money talks in the end.

MGM's logo is also on the official Weinstein site.
They do theatrical distribution for Weinstein, which has little to do with Home Video Distribution.
Weinstein movies in North America are on HD DVD only.

At least there are far less titles Blu-ray fans have to search far and wide across the Earth for compared to HD DVD fans.

Personally I feel that Weinstein won't be able to hold out as long as Universal has, especially with them being a smaller studio and all.

It's just nice to finally have the complete collection in HD here in the West. This was the only Hannibal movie we didn't have on Blu-ray until now.

I found a used all region import and was very happy that day and it was cheap too.

I’ll look into this Walmart steelbook.

It has a digital copy too, in addition to the packaging.

Yes, and watched it. The quality seems variable—some shots deliciously grainy, others with none, as though it was shot with a mix of film and digital, and sometimes the color doesn’t fully pop like I imagine it would with a 4K UHD remaster—but it’s better than serviceable.

1. Does IMDb specify how this film was shot?

2. I imagine that Lionsgate just dusted off an older master, slapped it on to Blu-ray, and called it a day. This is just a store exclusive catalog title with almost no marketing behind it. It also hadn’t been released on Blu-ray prior.

I received the steelbook [Walmart sent it in a thin brown bad ]

No damage.

I noticed no thread in the steelbook section. I actually like this movie, it's not earthshaking or anything and it was probably a cash grab, but like the Alien V Predator films it's good and watchable if you are a fan of the franchise.

As I posted above I was really happy to find an import bluray used and cheap too.

I'm surprised this release is not getting more excitement but I can only guess more people hated it than liked it. But a film that had no bluray release in the US like so many movies that had long been out on DVD but had no bluray release [Double Jeopardy, Red Eye], so I'm glad to have it finally released in the US.

I'm glad to get the digital as well.

Think it got overshadowed by Wolf Creek finally getting a region a bd in the same collection, same release day. I looked at it for a minute in store and thought well I watched my dvd once in all the years of owning it, probably don't need it. Bought Wolf Creek though.

No one talks about it because it’s better forgotten. Took the mystery out of a great villain and turned him in to someone warped by revenge. The book is pretty awful and the movie had nothing to go off of because of that. Lecter is definitely a better character when you don’t know his backstory.
