United Kingdom Red Dragon/Hannibal Rising worth it?

Hello. Is the Red Dragon PQ and AQ good? What about the bonus features. I'm looking into the Hannibal Collection so I would like to know if paying the price is right. £8.99
What about Hannibal Rising? £7.99

By the way, I live in the States.

Thanks.

As films both are crap compared to Manhunter.

I wish Manhunter had a single release in the US or UK. Good trick to package it with inferior films.

I want to buy this from Amazon UK but I'd like a little feed back on the PQ and AQ. Good? Average? Poor?

I've heard good things about the Red Dragon transfer but haven't heard anything about Hannibal Rising, sorry.

At £7.99 you may aswell just risk it as it won't be that bad, surely.

All the best
Sam

I have the UK Red Dragon Blu-Ray. It looks and sounds great, and has most of the special features from the 2-disc DVD that was released in the US. If you're a fan, it's worth it.

Sorry to hijack your thread!

But can some one please confirm the region code for the above movies from Amazon UK.

And also Hannibal from Amazon UK?

Hannibal and Red Dragon have been verified to play in Region A,B players. Your North American Blu-ray player or PS3 will play them fine.

I checked the packaging on both Hannibal and Red Dragon. Neither has any of the region logos on them. It's possible they are region free, but I don't have a PC Blu-Ray drive I can use to verify.

Red Dragon: Looks and sounds fantastic. No real complaints from me

Hannibal Rising: Picture Quality is a bit soft, but the real disappointment is that it's only a Dolby Digital 5.1 track. I've heard that the German version is better, but don't quote me on that.

Yes, DTS 5.1 HD according to OFDB.de, also Region B according to them.

Region B (A, C untested)

EDIT: Ah, you meant http://bluray.liesinc.net/index.php?region=b. Yes, if it is posted there that may certainly be the case.

AreaDVD cites audio as DTS 5.1 HD High Resolution only, not Master Audio. No region specified.

For Red Dragon, I already have the HD DVD, but was swayed by a poster (can't remember where) who said he had both the HD & the UK BD to hand, and that there was a noticeable step up from the HD to the UK BD.

I have one coming from Amazon UK, so I hope he was right!

So I ordered Hannibal Rising from Amazon UK and I got it today but it seems to be the Alliance Canadian version. From all I hear about alliance, should I expect to be disappointed by this disc? I feel a bit let down. Nowhere was it mentioned that I was getting this version.

Well, I got the UK disc today, and at least it didn't cost much - because on my 53" set the UK BD and the US HD DVD look pretty much identical, despite the higher bitrate of the blu.

So apart from slightly better menus and lossless audio, there's nothing much here for anyone who already has the HD DVD.

it was packaged with Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal. I'll grant you that Hannibal is an inferior film, but Silence of the Lambs? Come on, its a great film.
