welcome!

There are so many great BR'S to choose from. It's a question of what type of movies YOU like. It doesn't really matter what other people think.

What type TV you have(make model)? Are you sure its a 1080p TV? Are the settings on the BD player outputting 1080p or 720? I can make a blu-ray look 4 or 5 ways with my TV by changing that setting. I know these are dumb questions but they play a critical part in the output

Default Really great movies

Here are a couple of Movies I watched recently.
(I just got a LCD TV so I can't rate the PQ on movies before that.. Since then there have been a couple of really good ones)

1.) Vantage Point
2.) Casino Royale
3.) Cars
4.) The Simpsons Movie
5.) 3:10 to Yuma (That one is great
6.) Rambo (Probably the best PQ out there currently. Among non-animation movies)

They are not in order.. 5 and 6 are the best in my opinion

Default My Choices

I think the best movies that I own on Bluray are as follows and in no particular order:

Blade Runner
(They found a pristine transfer that they didn't know they had) This movie looks and sounds better than many other recent releases. It's won awards for AQ and PQ, and rweleased in 1982.

Cars and Ratatouille
Excellent transfer and traditional Pixar superior sound.

I Robot.
Both AQ and PQ excellent

Spider Man Trilogy

X-Men 3..The Last Stand

The Day After Tomorrow

Shooter

Remember that the movie is meant to appear grainy and dirty. Taken as how it's supposed to look, I find it to be one of the best-looking discs available today.

Here is what our review editor, Ben Williams, had to say about it in his review:
Black Hawk Down certainly isn't the prettiest film ever shot and it is comprised of material that could have easily been a disaster if not handled properly. Sony has really stepped up to the plate with this release by offering an extremely accurate transfer. This is the finest version of Black Hawk Down ever presented on home video. Everything one would expect from an exceptional transfer is here: stunning black levels, superlative shadow details and a perfect rendering of the film’s muted color palette. The level of detail on screen is nothing short of amazing as every last drop of blood and sweat is presented in unmatched high definition clarity. As I said before, Black Hawk Down is not a particularly colorful, glossy or polished looking film. The film is dirty, dark and gritty while relying on heavy use of filters and post-production manipulation to achieve its unique look. However, this Blu-ray presentation is absolutely true to the theatrical experience. Bringing the cinema experience home requires capturing a film exactly the way the director and cinematographer intended for it to be viewed in theaters. The Blu-ray release of Black Hawk Down easily accomplishes this goal.
