true i suppose. and he could also be saying that to actually surprise everyone, but i'd say this confirms its not happening. we'll see, in the meantime..theres whats been said on the issue.

Even if it doesn’t get an answer, I need to (fist clench gesture)!. Back when PS3 was launching, there was a pruriently impressive demo of Cloud at a subway station and all of that. Since then a lot of people have been asking and hoping for a remake of Final Fantasy VII only for the PlayStation 3. Will there be any announcement at all before the release of Final Fantasy XIII for an exclusive Final Fantasy VII on the PS3?

SH: (laughs) I hate to avoid this question but I will say one thing. We currently know a lot of people are asking for this but we’re already very busy with all of the titles as you mentioned before to be even considering a remake at the moment.

Well, that pretty much seals the deal for me. There isn't an announcement in the world they could make on Aug 2nd-3rd that would "Swing the pendulum back to Sony" if it isn't that one.

Kingdom Hearts 3 wouldn't be that big of a deal.

And for the love of god if they think a spinoff would do it, they are wrong. PS3 already has a spinoff slated for it (FFXIII vs) and nobody cares.

I'm going back to my original guess, Dirge of Cerberus 2 (snicker).

Prediction: Final Fantasy 7 Complete :P The FF7 remake, plus adding in all the stuff left on the cutting floor from the first FF7. Sony doing most of the backing for it, and will not be multiplat. Had the choice of FF7 or FF13, took FF7. To put icing on the cake, it's already has been in development from the technical demo back in 2005 -- Ready for Christmas 08 release!

I'm with Ter here. It'll be some sequel or spin off of the FF7 franchise (which is really what it has become). But I don't see KH3 or FF7:Insert Spinoff Here swinging any pendulum back. I think it's a lot of hype for an upcoming 'we need money' title.

Funny.. "certain circumstances... next question please". He avoided that like the plague. In other words... "M$ paid of lots of money so we are not making these for the PS3 yet." Nothing new there, but it is nice to see him squirm a little. We all know why these titles got timed 360 exclusivity... and his name starts with a "B", and end with "ill Gates".

Ya know, FF7 would actually require a special exemption from MS to end up XBL due to filesize.

Not that they wouldn't get it. Fun sidenote though, Square does have some of their titles coming out on PSN in Japan, although the most notable is Xenogears.

On the topic though, I'm going to pose a question with no basis; just pure hypothesis. Would a FF7-2 game be a 'big enough' announcement?

Not a spin-off/different game, but a full game-space sequel.

They said that after XII versus they are not planning any more "sequels" to FF games. remakes are not included in that category, so a remake is possible. But there will be no more games like X-2 or Crisis Core, i think this is it for sequels from them. BUT we will see... there may be more in the future afterall.

i dont see ff7 going to xbla anyways. but xenogears was an amazing game, just doesn't have the following of ff

My biggest problem right now is pure skepticism.

No matter what the announcement is I'll be thinking, in the back of my head, "Oh well. Another year until Microsoft gets Square to announce its version of the game, along with a 6 month timed exclusivity pact".

And well, near as I can tell FF7 never came out on the XBox, so it shouldn't really be classified as an original.

Which puts leaves it at the 150mb limit for other games. That said, it's an exception that would be granted, fairly easily. Since every instance I've heard of a game potentially not being able to come out on arcade due to the filesize is granted an exception.

Anyway, not saying it can't happen. As regardless of if it's considered an Arcade title instead of an Original, it would get an exception allowed. It's just taking a potshot at the filesize limit for Arcade games.

I care about Crisis Core. That doesn't mean I don't realize that it's not remotely on the same scale as a real Final Fantasy game. It's not even on the same scale as Star Ocean games are.

I personally think Versus will be better than the regular FF 13.....I mean, at the very least it won't be limited by the 360's DVD9 format ....that's if they are actually using that...

It doesn't matter if it's as good or not, it matters whether it will sell.

BioShock sold about 1/4th as much as Halo 3 did, but I think you'd be nuts to claim Halo 3 is a better game.
