Closing Comments
God of War II may in fact be the best action game ever made. It outdoes the original God of War in every way, even if only by a tiny bit as the first was so good to begin with. It's an evolutionary step rather than a revolutionary leap, but it has basically perfected the formula that the original set up. If you own a PlayStation 2 (or PS3) and don't mind excessive amounts of blood, you absolutely must play this game. If you don't own a PS2, find someone who does and sit yourself down in front of their TV for 12 or so hours as you'll otherwise be missing out on one of gaming's most intense and engaging experiences available.

that's awesome. I didn't think the 2nd would score that high since a couple of the cooler novelty things may have worn out their welcome a little. But, I guess super-cool fatality esque finishers never get old. Great news though. Too bad the game is more than a month away.

Ooh, even I'm tempted by it now and I passed on the first game because I found the demo and video footage a bit button-mashy.

It's an amazing game, but be prepared to die many, many times.

Nope. The day I bought my Panny, I knew I wouldn't be picking up a PS3 for some time. I'm really moving away from gaming at the moment, so it makes no sense. Of course, a great game like this I will have to play.

I've beaten Ninja Gaiden twice on Xbox but Ninja Gaiden Sigma's still top of my must-have slasher list.

SCEA should release a 720p PS3-upgraded trailer for GoW2.

This is EASILY a must buy. I just got rid of my PS2 as well, and now have 2 PS3's. I really hope the game is fully rendered in 720p on the PS3, that would be intense.

I wonder how they pulled this off, I suppose its possible they have a 720p render path in some PS3 specific code? I think I'll pick it up. I have been avoiding PS2 games for the most part due to my screen size (106") not making SD games look very tolerable.

IGN has now posted a retraction saying that the game will not be in 720p, only in 480p. Man they had my hopes up.

It's PS2 game so it will be out on DVD-9 format. There were saying play it in a PS3 to get 720p. If it's only in 480p then it doesn't matter because PS2 can do 480p.

No it doesn't matter as it will be the best game ever made for the next year until MGS comes out, seriously it is that good, you don't get 9.7 from IGN for nothing. The graphics are said to be on a level with the best the X360 has to offer, albeit in 480p rather than 720p.
