Default Jane Wells' son becomes a Sony fanboy...

I doubt anyone knows who she is (I didn't) but she's a writer/reporter or something. Anyhow, interesting article even if it is a bit sensationalist:

Quote:
But the cashier assured him that the game “was just as good as new.” My son asked, “How can that be?” “Because PlayStation players are ninjas!” was the response.
Quote:
He said, “Seriously, how does that work?” And the Game Stop fanboys explained that Sony now has a special coating on Blu-ray game discs which makes them virtually scratch-proof. We shall see.
And this quote just doesn't seem like it should come from someone at CNBC... is awesomeness a word?

After hearing about “Metal Gear Solid 4”, as well as other PlayStation exclusives in the pipeline and the awesomeness of Blu-ray,

I've never understood why it is so hard for people to NOT scratch their discs. Renting and buying used games shows what atrocities people inflict upon their DVDs and CDs. I actually got a reputation at a local game store for having my trade ins be in such outstanding condition that they quit looking at my discs, they knew they'd be in pristine condition. Hell, I can't stand it if my CASE is damaged.

Fortunately, the protective coating on Blu-rays has greatly reduced this issue. I've bought used games and movies on Blu-ray and have never seen more than smudges on them.

This is funny to me for the simple fact that yesterday a kid brought in a X360 disc to gamestop while I was there. The disc had what the cashier called the SROD (Scratched Ring Of Death) I was like what? He explained that he merely moved his 360 trying to get HDD 1 off to put HDD2 on and it tore the game to all hell.

My brother got the SROD a few times. They leave 2 rings. A big ring and a small one. I remember my brother playing call of duty 3 for 3 days and it killed the disk. Thats the biggest reason he is switching. On friday he is getting the MGS4 80 GB ps3 bundle.

Seriously I had a copy of Tiger Woods 07 get a phat ring around it from the 360 when I had one..

Gamecrazy tries to sell me a guarentee when buying used PS3 games and I remend them about the coating on blu-ray almost every time. At least I got to use the repair card to have them fix Tiger Woods 07.

It's the kids. If you have them it's easy to understand. The coating is a GODSEND. For example Peter Gabriel concerts are a big favourite here .. our 2nd DVD copies have damage on them. Lots of the kids movies have been replaced on DVD.

Almost 2 years on and not a single Blu-ray has more than fingerprints. GODSEND
