Default Humor: Blu-ray vs DVD

http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/612bfc5b88

As you can tell from you URL, this is a joke. But even in jest, Blu-ray comes out the winner!

Joke all you want...but if Toshiba manages to pull off their real-time upconverting using the Cell BE in their players and TVs in a few months...DVD may have the last laugh.

You really believe that ?
That Toshiba thing is not due till end of the year right ? You really think the masses will dump their DVD player and Bluray player for yet another machine and one that is not even True HD but an upconverter ?

I don't think so

Well, we'll just have to wait and see. Here's my take on things.

http://crave.cnet.co.uk/laptops/0,39...9295004,00.htm

Take a look at this vid...the first part demos the hand gestures; which are interesting but gimmicky until proven otherwise. Halfway through the video, they demo the upconversion using the cell...they don't have it in real-time yet, but it's incredibly compelling nonetheless.

They intend to introduct the cell into both DVD players and TVs. You wonder if people will buy a new DVD player? Keep in mind that people have massive DVD collections and the Blu Ray selection currently sucks out loud. If the upconversion is as miraculous as they say it will be...it would easily make sense to buy a new DVD player than to replace your old movies with BDs. But again, we'll just have to wait and see.

It's a nice little laptop, no argument there but it's a long way from becoming a new standard. Even Toshiba says "IF" they bring it to market so they are not even sure. to that add the price of that baby and worse of all, the fact that it takes a couple hours for it to turn standard Def in High def. I don't know about the masses but I don't plan to wait three full hours after I load a DVD in my future Tosh Upconverter before I can enjoy the show in Hi Def when I can enjoy it 3 full seconds after I load my Bluray in my PS3 ...

PS: I'm surprised nobody else has reacted to what you are saying

What got him banned? reading his other posts, he was asking mostly questions, and he was shopping for an LCD, has a PS3, etc..... not sure if this little comment (although ridiculous since we all know that upconversion just adds content that isn't really there) got him banned.... but if so, that's kinda harsh don't ya think???

I know that video was humor. But to say that was disgusting two men kissing just proves how homophobic you yanks are.

No offense

Why?

You do know that they were bisexual and would pair up when they became warriors right? The idea is that if you were fighting next to and for your lover, you would fight better.

When they finished their days in the military, they would come home and take a wife, and bring on the next generation...

The history is all there for you to explore.

Of course in 300, they avoided that big part of their lifestyle because bigots would not be able to handle it. I think they were right.

Yeah, here is 3 you can read yourself, I will try and find as many as you would like...

Percy, William A. Pederasty and Pedagogy in Archaic Greece, Urbana and Chicago: University of Illinois Press, 1996

Gay Warriors, by Burg, B. R., et al.; New York: New York University Press, 2002.

Homosexuality and Civilization, by Crompton, Louis, et al.; Massachusetts: The Belknap Press of Harvard University Press, 2003.

Anyway, the homosexuality was not acceptable, it seems, as warriors returning home were (basically) required to have a wife, making it a military thing that stayed in the field. The "gay" that they were is not the "gay" that you would see today. It was acceptable when you were away from women (say battle) but socially unacceptable when home.

There is also evidence that the warriors were not lovers together, but with their trainers when they were being brought up to fight.
