Looks like Studio Canal will begin releasing in both formats. They said they would look into Blu-ray in 2007 and it looks like they are gearing up to not get caught off guard when the PS3 Effect comes to town. I would presume their releases will not be region coded. The loose translation of the site is as follows. Quote:

Studio Canal launches its first BD!
It'll be this coming May 10th when Studio Canal, currently an HD DVD supporter, is going to release its hit movie, Lend Me Your Hand! This edition will come out on HD DVD format and also on BD, a first for the studio. More information about the coming BD releases from the studio is expected and we'll keep you updated! Lend Me Your Hand Available in 2 disc collector's edition DVD and Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD editions. |

Who cares if it's region coded. It's just further proof that HD-DVD is bleeding like a stuck pig.

I would imagine that this decision comes from the higher-ups that work in Vivendi SA, in a similar move to Time Warner who told Warner Bros to stop playing politics and get on with it.
Interesting fact, Vivendi SA own 20% of NBC Universal, so there could soon be pressure from within Universal to go neutral. |

Studio Canal often owns the European distribution rights to a particular film. In the states, T2 is a Lionsgate film, in Europe, its a Studio Canal film. Until now, they have only been releasing their films on MS-DVD in Europe, and now it looks like they are going to embrace BD as well.
