Hi,
I've got a Lite-on Blu-Ray drive, running the drive's included version of PowerDVD (BD Version) on XP with all the updates. WHen I try to play the Blu Ray disc, it does an intro animation, and ends up with teaser video with the 'menu' choice, 'Play Movie' plus two arrows next to 'Play Movie' and a sound button. If I click on any of those, nothing happens. Double Click minimizes the application to a windowed mode. No right click menu options or toolbar options to jump to next chapter work -- it gives me the old 'Not permitted' in the upper right. I've tried downloading WinDVD trial version, it just chugs the drive a little the word STOP is displayed. I tried to install the Total Media Theatre software, it does not launch. I've tried the Data Execution Protection trick, doesn't work. I'm leery about buying any software or upgrading PowerDVD as, 1. I am cheap 2. I am really not sure it will work. Any help would be appreciated. Addition: Yes, other Blu Ray discs I have (All two of 'em) do work with my setup. And, Windows gives me an error when I try to look at the contents of the Life of Brian disc. (Specifically, Windows cannot read from this disc. The disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compatible with Windows.) Last edited by greggle; 08-04-2008 at 07:07 AM. Reason: Correction |

Bah - silly me. I assumed I could use the mouse to select menu items.
It seems you can use the arrow keys on the keyboard to see other menu items, and enter key to select them. Now if I would have bought this, rather than rented it from NetFlix, I suppose the interface information would have been explained ... |

No, not really.
![]() First disc that did it to me was Surf's Up. I was clicking everything - nothing happened. Thought I broke it! Hit the arrow key, menu moved... hit Enter, it selected the item. Fun, huh? BTW, ArcSoft TotalMedia Theater has a mouse thing it will put on the screen for you - point n click arrows and enter. ![]() I prefer the actual keys... |
