Default Best Stereo System on the Market

Between the ones already out and models that will be released sometime this year, what would you say is the all-around best stereo system out there right now for your own little home theater (one that has an hdmi 1.3 output for starters, I'd guess)?

well, no receivers have hdmi 1.3 yet. as for best system, that is way to broad of a question. it really depends on how much money you have. i could dump 300k on mono block amps, pre pros, and t.v's without breaking a sweat if money isn't a factor. we need a better idea money, requirement, and room wise to make a determination of best available for you.

as for best, i have read someone on here who has b&w nautilus speakers, runco pre pros, and a lot of other great components that i'd prob qualify as the best i've seen/read.

Although I agree with theknub that your question is a little too vague, I'll bite anyways.

For my money, NAD components have always given me what I wanted. I have a NAD amp and preamp, but their powered receivers are great too. NHT, despite having been bought out by JBL, still makes top-notch speakers that have great room dispersion. I do bookshelf speakers because they take up less room than towers, but also because I get all the bass I need from my NHT sub. I mainly bought a NHT sub because I was buying NHT speakers, but if I was to do it over again, I would probably go with a M&K (Miller&Kreisel) sub. I've always been partial to Samsung video equipment because it not only does a good job of producing great images, but has never broken down on me either. I have Samsung LCD's for my computer and home theater. I only feel the need for a 5.1 speaker setup, but I'm sure 7.1 is better for larger areas than what I have. When it comes to Blu-ray players, I didn't bite when Sammy came out with the BD-P1000 because I knew I was going to be buying a PS3, so I was patient. When the BD-P1200 comes out, though, the PS3 will be going in the bedroom and the Sammy will be the new Blu-ray player for my home theater. My stuff isn't the best of the best, but I feel that I've gotten the most for the money I've spent.

also, check out my sig. b&w is now on their third generation of the 600 sereies of speakers (s3) that have received some of the top marks at audio review. my speakers might be 6 yrs old now, but they still are better than 90% of what i hear out there. and for the money, they are one of the best deals going IMO. you can't get my sub because it was discontinued because margins weren't great enough but i wholeheartedly would get another m&k sub if i needed another. the only thing i'd change right now is get an hdmi receiver. mine works great so it'd pain me to replace, but i do realize it is 6 years old. i built a very similar system to mine for my dad about a year later. i bought a great deal of my equipment piece meal to save money but we just went to the store for him and were able to do it for ~3k or so. he has not regretted it.

Quote us a budget, but either way I'd wait on HDMI 1.3 receivers, due in July.

I'd go with

Fronts - Infinite Wisdom Grande from Wisdom Audio.

I think I'd have to stop there though and have my roof raised by several feet.

Speakers - US$600,000

Best I've ever heard is the Tannoy Churchills powered from a Wyetech amp and pre-amp.

It's not a matter of how loud it plays... it's a matter of how CLEAN it plays.
