Default Madden '09

Ok, I'm not a member of the group that goes out and buys Madden every year no matter how much or how little they change. I bought '07 for Wii at launch because it got decent reviews and I really wanted to play with the Wii-remote. Now, two years later, I'm contemplating buying '09, but for the PS3 instead of the Wii.

What have people been hearing about the game so far? I can't check any gaming sites for reviews at work and I'm curious to see if this is something I should run out and purchase, cause I plan on it lasting me at least 2 or 3 years before I buy another Madden. I may also just wait for EA's NFL exclusivity license to expire.

Seeing my postion, and how I refuse to buy a new Madden game every year, what are your thoughts?

Thanks.

I usually alternate every year between NCAA and Madden. This year, I'm going with the Madden Anniversary Edition. It includes the NFL Head Coach game (which would cost $50 separately), a version of Madden '93, and extra stuff. I normally don't buy "special editions" of games, but this one seems worth the extra $30 (or less, depending on where you buy).

I'm sure it won't be perfect, but it looks like they have put some work into 2009, unlike 2008.

I've heard nothing but great things for 09. Played the demo and love the smoothness of the game and like the way they have made it to play based on your ability. I have been playing the game since it first came out and am really excited about this one. I just hope the online experience improves. In NCAA 09 I still have problems with disconnects and controller freezing issues.

The reviews on some websites have said it's good and better graphics, but then again, that's what they say every year. I was excited for this since they said it was going to have online leagues, but after finding out how it's setup I quickly changed my mind. The online league isn't an official season setup or anything. No playoffs or nothing. It goes by seed. So I'm going to wait 2 or 3 months and pick it up for half price.

I've been hearing good things about 09. I didn't buy 08 because I spent money on 07 and it was trash. I've seen a lot of videos and I'm really excited about this years Madden. The gameplay looks like it's improved and the graphics look better. The grass on the field is definitely better than past next gen Maddens. I already pre ordered mines for the 360, and I'll be picking it up at midnight. I'm not big on playing people online, besides my friends, so I'll be focusing on running my franchise with DA NINERS!!

Default Yeah...

The whole graphics are better thing is definitely what's holding me back. Maybe I'll just wait until Christmas or something so I don't have to spend the $60 myself.

On the other hand, I do want a true next-gen football title. Dammit NFL, you better not sell your exclusivity when your contract is up with EA....we need competition - Blitz doesn't count.

I played the demo on my PS3 but was disappointed with the kicking system. I hate using the Right Analog Stick to control the meter. I would like to know if the kicking system can be changed to the old style but don't wanna buy or rent it.

Actually, earlier this year the deal was extended to 2012.

Ugh, you're killing me, DetroitSportsFan.

Maybe I'll just get 09, and be done with it until PS4.

Does anyone know when IGN is gonna post their official review for the PS3 and 360? I saw they gave the Wii version a 8.6 out of 10.

Thats right! This is the Niners year. But back to the game. It pretty much seems like its going to be fun for a week before you realize it sucks and its just a shell of its former great self. That's why I'm going to gamefly it.

Well I'm gonna scour the internet for reviews when I get home from work and if I can get it for $10 off or something I may do it. Or I may just wait for Gamestop to have it used, buy it there, see if i like it for a week, and if I don't, then return it.

Ahh such tough decisions. It is a fun game to play with a buddy while hanging out before hitting the bars for the night...I'm so torn!

I will probably end up caving, but I won't be playing it often enough for it to suck for me seeing that Little Big Planet comes out in the next few months.

Well, it is the NFC, so they could get a WC spot. The division is going to the Seahawks (obviously).

The over/under for the 49ers this season is 5.5 wins. They've got 6-7 games where they're almost guaranteed to lose, 2-3 games were they're likely to lose and the rest are up in the air.

6-10 will be a stretch for them, but anything can happen in the NFL.

As for the game, I wasn't disappointed by the graphics, so not sure what everyone is talking about.

I'm a 49er fan as well but they're offense thus far isn't very impressive. To make things better, play Madden and win every game to make yourself feel better.

They said a patch will be released that will put him on the Jets( I can't imagine that its some intensive patch) so it could be available at launch or at worst a few days after.

I've passed on Madden since 06, but after getting a 10 dollar gift card for ordering it from Amazon and seeing some improvements in the demo, I'm going to give this one a shot. I'm actually looking forward to this game showing up tomorrow.

I'm thinking of getting this game. I don't follow American Football nor do I really know or understand the rules. Is this game for Hardcore fans only or is it pretty pick up and play?

I know how Brett Farve is! Go the Jets?

Well they put in a new feature where the game will adapt to your skill in different areas. The demo had you do different skills and depending how well you did in each skill the computer will adjust how hard or easy it is to do each thing against them.

I wouldn't suggest going online right away, but the casual fan can pick it up and have fun.
