Caught part of a commercial during football.... don't remember the athlete pushing them etc.... just caught a glimpse of it, but here is my question....
EDIT: wait... it was during the Olympics that I saw this I think... heck I don't know.... "Anyone hear about these new Vizios that are 120hz processing?" I know they're not going to be the quality of the other Plasma/LCD sets available..... and I should say first, that I'm not in the market for a new t.v. but just wanted to know what prices these were supposedly hitting the market at, and any feedback that has been reported on them. I'd consider one for my parents (no HD inputs whatsoever) in a 27" model if anything. Anyone? |

Beta, here's the downlow:
They're called the XVT Series LCD TVs. The first two models will be a 42" SV420XVT for $1200, and a 47-inch SV470XVT for $1500; both of which will offer 4 HDMI inputs, 1080p resolution with 120Hz operation, Vizio's Smooth Motion Technology, the whole virtual 5.1 surround sound that all TVs have, and all the other typical inputs and so on. Dynamic contrast ratios still low, though, around 6,000:1. ![]() |

meaning that its a bunch of cheap chinese components thrown into a TV put together with cheap labor, that infringes on patents patented by other TV companies and then sets up a "headquarters" in irvine, CA and calls itself "Americas HDTV".
then when sony, samsung, sharp, pioneer, panasonic, toshiba, etc. say HEY YOU CAN'T STEAL OUR SH1T, WE'RE TAKING YOU TO COURT!!! vizio will continue to make products and sell them at cheap prices until the court costs are too much to bear, at that point they dissolve the company, lay low for a few years and reemerge as a "new" company and repeat a similar tactic. Apex, Cyberhome and a few others did this too. Last edited by stockstar1138; 08-11-2008 at 07:57 PM. |

![]() To those who said "stay away" I don't have any intentions of buying a Vizio.... just curious is all....... To all others... "yeah" I know all about poorly manufactured electronics, Vizio's legal issues, etc. etc. |

I love the way that if its not an Onkyo receiver or a Klipshit speakers or a Panasonic Plasma, its a piece of sh*t.
My 42" vizio is on all day, cause I have kids at home and wont let them watch my sammy. I have had nothing but a good experience with it. I would recommend them to people who want a cheap 2nd or 3rd tv. Besides, if they have sony, sammy and philips parts in them... then I would say I got a decent TV for that price. I could care less about their lawsuit. If it goes bad in 5-10 years, then its easy to move my sammy to the bedroom and go get a new 1440p? samsung 46", or whatevers new. Now let me redeem myself.... there is no way I want that tv being my primary HDTV in the house. Last edited by crackinhedz; 08-13-2008 at 11:40 PM. |

I kinda thought the Gallevia or whatever models would be ok. everythings made overseas anyway and you can get a lemon in any brand!

Every Vizio I have ever seen has subpar PQ. On that note, I second the stay away suggestion at least for your main TV. If its in the kids room then well, they probably can't tell the difference anyway, or care.

Vizio's have decent picture quality and their reliability is supposed to be very good. Does it look as good as a KURO? No, but for an inexpensive tv they are decent quality. |
