Default MMORPG Fans: Warhammer: Age of Reckoning

With the announced September 18th release of Warhammer Online, is there anyone here that has been interested and planning on playing? I am currently in the closed beta and can definitely say it's going to be a huge hit and certainly break the million subscriber base. I am also a Dark Age of Camelot player.

For anyone that doesn't know about the game, it's based on RvR, which is Realm Vs. Realm. Think open world PvP, only better, much better. Order fights Destruction in a constant war. Players will be able to level up solely by RvRing which eliminated the dreaded MMORPG PvE grind.

#1 Best MMORPG and Best of E3 winner.
#1 Most anticipated PC game @ E3

I'm looking for a WoW replacement at the moment and this definitely is appealing. Is the RvR stifling in your opinion - in other words is there no other option but to fight real folks all the time, as opposed to mobs? 'Fraid I've turned into a care bear in my old age

Absolutely not. I only put the emphasis on RvR because it's what I love to do, especially because I came from an RvR based game. If you so choose you could completely steer clear of RvR and work on your PvE. Warhammer is great in my opinion because you can do what you want. 90% PVE 10% RVR, 50/50, 60/40 , 100/0. The possibilities are endless.

What seperates WAR from WoW is the fact that you don't need to have the best gear to compete, (although don't get me wrong its an important aspect)and getting the best gear isn't an infinitely difficult task. Player skill will outdo gear in some instances. WAR also won't be the kind of game that thinks the way to keep a player challenged is to keep making levels higher and higher and forcing more grinding.

But don't fret amigo, your ability to raid and PvE will certainly be there. And you will be rewarded for it. There will also be PvE oriented servers if you so choose.

This would surely be the end of my marriage after my 2 year bout with WoW. Even mentioning it causes insta-period complete with a stay-on-your-side-of-the-bed dot.
