Default PCM 5.1 by Sony BDP-S300 on older receiver

Hello guys,

After reading allot of review's off Blu ray movies here and after watching loads of HD trailers, 3 weeks ago, i decided to buy a Blu Ray player (Sony BDP-S300).

And i dont regret it! stunning quality, simply amazing. And im "affraid" im nailed on it now. Looking for a new TV and a nice receiver. But that will take some weeks.

Thing is, at the moment im using a couple years old 5.1 Sony receiver: Sony STR-DE597, Is it possible to listen to 5.1 PCM over analoge on it?
I would like to get better audio quality then my current 5.1 DD, till i got my new equipment.

Is this possible? by just connecting my sony player on my receiver over analoge? or will i just get 2.1, and will my receiver make dolby 5.1 of it?

Looking foward to an answer, and keep up the good work on this website, i enjoy visiting it.

Hugs

Get Black Hawk Down. That should be the first movie you watch with PCM 5.1. Then watch Cars. Tell us how you feel about PCM after you watch BHD. You can crank it if you're really wanting to be impressed (not saying lower volumes aren't impressive, especially with PCM and other HD codecs...)

1 more thing, excuse me if its a dumb question, but its all kinda new for me :x

If a Blu Ray movie doesnt include a PCM 5.1 track, but only a True HD (which i cant play with Sony BDP-S300 and old receiver) and a DD 5.1 track, i do need to use the DD 5.1 track right?

And will this play over the 5.1 analoge, like my PCM does? or should i stick there with my optical or coax cable?

Thanks in advance

Put it in a zip-lock bag and put it somewhere where it can be easily found (or lost if you're like that) just in case you need it (or not.)
